INTRODUCTION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES to a street Traffic control devices are all signs, signals, markings, and devices placed on, over, or adjacent or highway by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction to regulate, warn, or guide traffic. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), issued by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is the standard reference concerning traffic control devices and their use. The federal government is limited to encouraging the adoption of the MUTCD by the states. However, most states have adopted the federal MUTCD without revision, or have at least adopted the minimum requirements of the federal manual. This section provides a review of the basic principles of the MUTCD. The reader should consult both the federal and applicable state MUTCDs for complete details.

The MUTCD According to the federal MUTCD (USDOT, 2001), "The purpose of traffic control devices, as well as the principles for their use, is to promote highway safety by providing for the orderly movement of all road users on streets and highways throughout the nation. Traffic control devices notify road users of regulations and provide warning and guidance needed for the safe, uniform, and efficient operation of all elements of the traffic stream."

DELINEATORS Delineators are tall pylons (similar to traffics lane or bollards) mounted on the road surface, or along the edge of a road, and are used to channelize traffic which are an excellent choice through work zones, gore areas, on-ramps and off-ramps, parking lots, and other similar situations. These are a form of raised pavement marker but unlike most such markers, delineators are not supposed to be hit except by out-of-control or drifting vehicles. Unlike their smaller cousins, delineators are tall enough to impact not only a vehicle's tires but the vehicle body itself. They usually contain one or more reflective strips. They can be round and open in the center or curved (45 degree sections) of plastic with a reflective strip. They are also used in low reflective markers in a "T" shape. They can also be used to indicate lane closures as in cases where the number of lanes is reduced. The name delineator is also used for reflective devices attached to other objects which are technically not pavement markers. The colour of the delineator is orange because people can see it easily for far especially during night. The delineator must be glow-in the dark and light reflector. Delineator is flexible so that when theres car hit it, it will not broken and the delineator can be used for a long period.

The delineator is fixed by screw so that it will not lost and will stay in position for a long period. The screws is drill into the road and tied it with high pressure.

OBJECTIVE

1. Delineators are particularly beneficial at locations where the alignment might be confusing or
unexpected, such as at lane reduction transitions and curves. Delineators are effective guidance devices at night and during adverse weather. An important advantage of delineators in certain locations is that they remain visible when the roadway is wet or snow covered.

2. Delineators may be used on long continuous sections of highway or through short stretches
where there are changes in horizontal alignment.

3. Delineators can make road become more safety especially at pavement and road junction.

4. Delineators also can be used as a road divider especially at small road.

5. Delineators also can be used as a warning sign to slow down especially at school area and
houses area.

6. Delineators is particular used so that vehicles can t make turn, stop at the wrong place.

7. Delineators also making road maintenances in low cost because the delineators is flexible and
it will not damaged easily

DELINEATOR.
