MAKING CANDLES
Making coloured and scented candles is really quick and simple. What's more, you'll save so much
money. If making candle is easy, why do you ever buy one from a shop? What you need in making candle
are wax, moulds, wick, dye discs, essential oils, and a double boiler. All these materials are available
from craft shops. Or if you do not want to buy them, you can improvise with an old saucepan, Pyrex
jug, or even a sturdy can, in a pot of water. After providing the materials, follow this procedure or
instruction

candles!
First of all, melt the wax. All wax has a flash point, so to prevent it bursting into flames; you must melt
it
in
a
double
boiler,
with
water
in
the
bottom
of
the
pan.
Then, prepare the mould with the wick. Thread the wick through the mould and make sure that you
leave
a
good
few
centimeters
sticking
out
of
the
hole
in
the
bottom.
After that, add the scent. If you want a scented candle, add a few drops of essential oil to the melted
wax. You can use any essential oil you like, as long as it doesn't contain water.
Next step, pour the wax into the mould. Try and tip the wax into the mould quickly, all in one go, to
minimize
spillage
and
air
bubbles.
Then, release the bubbles and top it up. Releasing the air bubbles will eventually make the candle
sink,
so
you
will
need
to
top
it
up
with
more
melted
wax.

Hasil pengamatan, penelaahan, penelitian, observasi, atau studi tentang benda, binatang, orang, atau
tempat. Participant (yang dideskripsikan) pada report cenderung general. Data yang tersaji umumnya
berupa simpulan umum akan karakteristik, ciri, dan atau keberadaan dan keadaan participant. Tujuan
teks report adalah untuk menggambarkan participant apa adanya. Bila yang dibicarakan suatu benda,
teks report lebih menyoroti fungsi dari benda tersebut.
Teks report lazimnya menyodorkan suatu generalisasi akan participant yang diulas; generalisasi ini
umumnya didapat lewat membandingkan yang satu dengan yang lain yang tergolong participant sejenis.
Teks report umumnya memiliki struktur:
- general classification, pernyataan umum yang menerangkan subjek laporan, keterangan, dan
klasifikasinya.

Jenis teks berupa cerita atau dongeng yang bertujuan menghibur pembaca. Ciri utama teks narrative
adalah terdapatnya masalah (atau hal yang dianggap masalah atau pelik) dan langkah yang diambil
untuk merespon masalah tersebutini umumnya berupa solusi atau penyelesaian. Konten teks narrative
dapat berupa cerita khayalan atau kisah nyata yang mendapatkan bumbu-bumbu perekayasa.
Teks narrative umumnya memiliki struktur:
- orientation, pendahuluan atau pembuka berupa pengelanalan tokoh, waktu, dan tempat.
- complication/crisis, pengembangan konflik atau pemunculan masalah.
- resolution, penyelesaian konflik atau langkah yang diambil untuk merespon masalah.
- reorientation, penutupungkapan-ungkapan yang menunjukkan cerita sudah berakhir, ini sifatnya

Jenis teks yang kontennya melaporkan peristiwa, kejadian, atau kegiatan yang menimpa seseorang,
atau berupa pengalaman seseorang. Tujuan teks recount adalah untuk memberitahukan atau hiburan.
Teks recount umumnya memiliki struktur:
- orientation, pendahuluan atau pembuka berupa pengelanalan tokoh, waktu, dan tempat.
- events, rangkaian kejadian/peristiwa.
- reorientation, penutupungkapan-ungkapan yang menunjukkan peristiwa/kejadian/ kegiatan sudah
selesai.
- komentar pribadi akan peritiwa yang diutarakan, sifatnya opsional.

On Sunday, my friend and I went to Lake Kintamani in Bali. The water was clean, the temperature was

sacred by the local people.

13. Procedure
Untuk memberi petunjuk tentang langkah-langkah/metode/cara-cara melakukan sesuatu. Teks
procedure umumnya berisi tips atau serangkaian tindakan atau langkah dalam membuatu suatu barang
atau melakukan suatu aktifitas
Teks procedure umumnya memiliki struktur:
- goal, tujuan kegiatan.
- materials, bahan-bahan/barang, sifatnya opsional.
- steps, serangkaian langkah
Contoh:
Rose Flovered Agar Agar
32 g agar agar strips, cut into short strands and cooked for 1 hour.
1,5 liter water
700 g rock sugar, broken into smaller pieces
5 pandan leaves, tied into a knot
1 tsp rose essence
2 drops pink or red food coloring

Put agar agar strips and water into a pan and bring to a gentle boil over a mediumlow fire till
agar agar dissolved.

Belajar bahasa Inggris dengan gembira


1. Perbanyak membaca buku, artikel, tulisan dalam bahasa Inggris.
Ingat, pertama-tama membaca pasti akan ada banyak kosa kata yang kita tidak kenal. Jangan
menyerah. Artikan setiap kata dengan bantuan kamus, dan tulis arti kata tersebut di bawahnya.
Percaya pada saya, dalam beberapa minggu, anda pun akan berhenti membuka kamus setiap 2 menit
dalam membaca tulisan sejenis.
2. Perhatikan pengucapan kata.
Memang kadang sangat susah mengucapkan suatu kata bahasa Inggris dengan baik, tapi bukan berarti
tidak mustahil. Jangan keras kepala dan mengucapkan suatu kata seperti halnya bahasa Indonesia.
Logat tidak akan bisa hilang, tapi usahakan untuk memperhatikan pengucapan. Untuk ini yang pertama
harus dilakukan adalah menguasai penguasaan abjad, dan kemudian perhatikan phonetik yang sering
dicantumkan dalam kamus. Kalau masih juga bingung, bisa lihat di website Oxford English Dictionary .
Penjelasan yang mereka berikan sangat jelas dan mudah dimengerti.
3. Perbanyak kosa kata anda.
Langkah pertama akan memperbanyak kosa kata anda secara tidak langsung, tapi tidak ada salahnya
mendedikasikan 15 menit setiap hari untuk belajar kosa kata baru. Bisa dengan mengulang kosa kata
yang didapat dari bacaan, berusaha mencerna lirik dalam musik, atau berusaha untuk menangkap
dialog dalam film kesayangan. Tulis kosa kata yang anda pelajari di sebuah buku tulis khusus. Dengan
begitu kosa kata tidak akan hilang dan anda akan menyadari kemajuan yang telah anda dapat. Bagi
mereka yang memiliki akses email mudah, ikutilah milis Oxford English Dictionary yang akan
mengirimkan satu kata dan artinya setiap hari.
4. Coba menulis dalam bahasa Inggris.
Tidak berarti harus langsung menulis karya sastra. Cukup kalimat-kalimat pendek, dan kemudian disusul
dengan paragraph pendek. Lalu coba koreksi sendiri tulisan tersebut. Jangan selalu mengandalkan Word
Spelling check, karena fungsi ini tidak bisa diandalkan untuk memeriksa kesalahan grammar.
Kuasailah grammar dasar dan ikuti peraturannya dengan telaten. Tidak perlu terburu-buru menulis
kalimat yang panjang dan kompleks. Mulai
dengan kalimat pendek dengan kosa kata yang simpel. Dengan berjalannya waktu, penguasaan
grammar dengan baik dan timbunan kosa kata di bank memori anda, anda pun akan bisa menghasilkan
sebuah cerpen atau blog dalam bahasa Inggris.
5. Cari teman ngobrol dalam bahasa Inggris
Pasti banyak teman anda yang juga sedang berjuang mempelajari bahasa Inggris, kenapa tidak belajar
bareng-bareng? Ajak teman anda untuk meluangkan waktu berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan anda, entah
sekedar ngegosip, membaca dialog atau cerita, atau berdiskusi. Kalau malu, cari tempat dan waktu
dimana anda tidak akan diganggu, taman kota, lorong kampus atau kamar kost.
Kalau enggan, latihan saja sendiri di kamar. Lafalkan kata-kata dalam bahasa Inggris atau baca novel
kesayangan dengan lantang. Dengan melantunkan sebuah lagu kita pun jadi gampang mengingatnya.

6. Artikan lagu kesayangan anda.
Setiap orang pasti mempunyai lagu kesayangan. Kalau kebetulan lagu kesayangan anda dalam
berbahasa Inggris, kenapa tidak coba diartikan? Akan bisa lebih menghayati lagu tersebut, dan anda
pun akan menambah bank kosa kata.
7. Coba menonton film berbahasa Inggris tanpa membaca terjemahan.
Pertama-tama akan membuat pusing kepala, tapi latihan ini sangat penting. Otak anda pun akan
terlatih untuk ter-set dalam bahasa Inggris. Bisa berpikir dalam bahasa Inggris akan membantu ketika
anda harus mendengarkan, berbicara dan menulis dalam bahasa Inggris.
