Pastikan untuk menyiapkan kabel data yang bagus dan batre HP dalam
kondisi penuh (untuk memastikan, charge HP minimal 4 Jam terlebih
dahulu)
Let’s begin the work
 Install semua driver dan aplikasi yang sudah tadi sudah di
download.
 extract ADB and Fastboot dalam folder hasil extract firmware.
 Extract file firmware.
 Jalankan program xFSTK Downloader , dan klik tab CLVP
A0/B0/B1 (ada di bawah posisinya)

 Pilih sec-dnx_fwr.bin untuk FW DnX, sec-ifwi-prod.bin untuk

IFWI, sec-dnx_osr.bin untuk OS DnX,
dan droidboot.img.POS_sign.bin untuk OS Image.
 Klik Options dan pilih Modify Settings, Klik tab CLVP
A0/B0/B1.
 Checklist “Include Softfuse File” dan pilih file soft_fuse.bin.
 Klik OK
  Pada HP, tekan tombol Power + Volume Down kemudian
sambungkan kabel USB dari komputer. Kalo HP menyala dan
berhenti pada logo Intel, maka matikan kembali HP dengan menekan
tombol power sekitar 5 detik/sampai layar kembali hitam, kemudian
coba lagi tekan tombol Power + Volume Down sampai Device
Status di aplikasi xFSTK application menunjukkan
CLOVERVIEWPLUS TARGETS DETECTED: 1
 Klik tombol "Begin Download". Sekarang tunggu sampai xFSTK
menunjukkan tulisan Sukses (Biasanya ditandai dengan gambar Intel
lagi.
 Kalo sudah selesai, matikan HP, dan tekan tombol Power +
Volume Up untuk masuk ke mode Bootloader.
Sudah selesai? Belum, HPnya sudah ada Boot Image tapi hanya bisa
masuk Bootloader. Sekarang diteruskan dengan flashing ROM.
 Pastikan HP tersambung dengan komputer dan dalam kondisi
Bootloader (Ceknya, ketikkan command "fastboot devices", apabila
terdeteksi, maka lanjut ke langkah berikutnya.
 Sekarang buka folder ADB dan Fastboot yang tadi di extract
(yang ada file firmwarenya), kemudian tekan Shift+Klik kanan dan
pilih Open Command Window Here
 CMD window will now open directly into the adb fastboot folder
 Ketik fastboot flash
recovery 1.17.40.16_ww_recovery.imgkemudian tekan Enter
(1.17.40.16_ww_recovery.img adalah nama recovery file)
 Tunggu sampai selesai, kalau HP tidak reboot, maka pilih
"recovery" di HP (pilih dengan menekan volume up atau down
kemudian pilih dengan tombol power). Kalau sukses, maka akan
terlihat gambar android tidur.
Sekarang tinggal install ROM nya:
 Pastikan HP masih tersambung di komputer
 Jalankan ASUS Flash Tools, Kalau belum keluar HP nya, copot,
dan pasang lagi kabelnya, pastikan sudah menginstal ASUS USB
driver sebelumnya. Flash Tool akan mendeteksi otomatis, kalau
sudah terdeteksi akan ada warna biru.
 Pilih model HP nya, Saya pakai A500CG
 Pilih Wipe Data (Pasti hilang soalnya semua data)
 Pilih gambar boxnya untuk cari RAW file (file firmware yang
belum di extract)
 Sekarang pilih HP nya, dan klik Start
  Tinggal menunggu prosesnya, agak lama, tapi mudah-mudahan
sukses.

Now you have your device back online!

Required basic knowledge before operating

- How to enter fastboot: Power on the phone byholding down the power button and
the volume-up button simultaneously while thephone is off.
- How to enter recovery: Power on the phone byholding down the power button while
the phone is off; when you feel the phonevibrate, press and hold down the volume-
down button and release it when you seethe ASUS logo. Wait until you see an
exclamation mark and an android that fellon the ground, press and hold down the
volume-down button and then press thevolume-up button to display the menu.
- How to operate fastboot and recovery: Use thevolume-up and volume-down buttons
to move the cursor up and down, and use thepower button to select the item.

How to flash back to genuine ROM throughrecovery

- Download the flash tool pack FlashTools.zip andextract it at the root directory of the
drive.
- Download the flash script file Restore.bat and placeit in the FlashTools folder.
- Download the genuine ZenFone 5 ROM here: http://www.asus.com/support/util
...l2=1&l3=0&m=2&os=32; usingversion 2.20.40.9 TW as an example, it
is http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS ... -2.20.40.9-user.zip.Place it in the FlashTools
folder after downloaded and rename it to update.zip. If you are usingan earlier
version such as 2.19.40.18: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS ...
F_TW_2_19_40_18.zipwhere the prefix of the compressed file is UL_ASUS, first
extract it to acquire the compressedfile with the prefix UL-ASUS, which is the actual
file we need to flash thephone. Similarly, rename it to update.zip and place it in the
FlashTools folder.
- Enter the phone’s recovery mode and select apply update from ADB, andthen
connect the phone to the computer through USB.
- Click and execute Restore.bat to reinstall your phone.
- When completed, the phone’s menu will reappear;just press the power button and
select reboot to restart the phone.

Now into the subject; there’s always a day whereyou messed up whether you’re an
expert or rookie, and what we fear the most isthat the phone can no longer be
started. Here I will list some commonabnormalities and how to troubleshoot them; I
hope it can provide some help tothose who need it and any comment is welcomed if
you discovered errors.

Unable to enter fastbootand the phone just shuts down.

- If you can enter recovery, just flash the genuineROM back to restore the fastboot
status.
- If you cannot enter recovery but the phone canstart up normally, recovery (Note 1)
can first be restored by usingupdate_recovery if the phone was rooted, and then use
recovery to flash backthe genuine ROM to restore fastboot status.

Unable to enter recoveryand the phone starts up normally.

- If you can enter fastboot, flash it back using fastboot flash recoveryrecovery.img.
(Note 2)
- If you cannot enter fastboot but the phone canstart up normally, recovery (Note 1)
can first be restored by usingupdate_recovery if the phone was rooted, and then use
recovery to flash back tothe genuine ROM to restore fastboot status.

Unable to enter recoveryand the USB icon is displayed.

- If you can enter fastboot, flash it back using fastboot flash recoveryrecovery.img.
(Note 2)
- If you cannot enter fastboot but the phone canstart up normally, recovery (Note 1)
can first be restored by usingupdate_recovery if the phone was rooted, and then use
recovery to flash back tothe genuine ROM to restore fastboot status.

The screen showsthe USB icon immediately upon power on.

- First turn off the phone (press and hold thepower button for 10 seconds) and then
restart the phone; if the USB icon stillappears, use the following steps.
- If you can enter recovery, just flash the genuineROM to restore the phone.
- If you cannot enter recovery but can enterfastboot, first restore recovery
through fastboot flash recoveryrecovery.img, and then userecovery to flash the
genuine ROM. (Note 2)
- If you cannot enter fastboot and the USB iconis displayed, please try the restore
tutorial in the later chapters.
- If you cannot enter fastboot and the USB iconflashes once and the phone powers
off, and is only able to power on again aftera long while (USB icon flashes again and
the phone powers off), or if the USBicon does not appear at all as if the phone never
powered on at all:
1. Download the flash tool package FlashTools.zip and extractit at the root directory
of the drive.
2. Try to connect the phone to thecomputer with a USB cable while the phone is
powered off, click and execute Enter_Bootloader.bat after theUSB icon disappears
and check if the phone pauses at the USB icon. If it did,try the restore tutorial below;
if not, charge the phone for an entire dayfirst, and then repeat the previous steps
again. If it still does not work, youcan only send the phone back to the store for
repairs.

Last resort.
When you need to use the following steps to saveyour phone, it means that you’re
desperate but there’s still hope. Thefollowing operations have been verified on
Windows 7 64bit, you’ll have to tryyour luck on other platforms; first download the
required files: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/7qapfy4zqvxf6 ZenFone 5will be used
for the following explanations; if you have a Zenfone 6, pleasedownload the
corresponding folder.
The first step is to install iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.0.4.exe;when the USB icon
appears on your phone when you power it up, if you connectthe phone to the
computer, two new devices should be added to your computer.They are both under
the Intel Soc category:CloverviewPlus Deviceand Intel Soc USB Driver.

Step two is to install xfstk-downloader-setup-1.5.1.exe;this program writes in the

necessary files to bring your phone back to life.Once the phone can enter fastboot
mode, everything else will be ok.

Step three is to download the ZenFone5folder so that it can be written into the phone
later on. If you’ve neverdownloaded fastboot.exe or adb.exe before, you can also
download FlashTools.zip just incase; extract the files inside into the ZenFone5
folder.

There’s another file IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0.exein the folder; if the Intel driver

that you previously installed was actingstrange and cannot detect the CloverviewPlus
Device, try this one out. I’venever personally installed it before; it’s just there for
backup.

Once you’ve confirmed that the phone isconnected to the computer, and the devices
previously described also appearedin the device manager, you can start xFSTK to try
to save your phone.

Pay attention to the page below after you openit; switch to CLVP A0/B0/B1 at the
back and confirm that Scanning: CLOVERVIEWPLUSTARGETS DETECTED: 1 is
displayed in the Devicestatus field. If 0 isdisplayed at the end, please confirm
whether the device is detected in thedevice manager.

The next steps are quite easy; just selectthe files needed for FW DnX, IFWI, OS DnX
and OS Image sequentially. We’vepreviously downloaded a ZenFone5 folder that
contains the corresponding filesinside: `dnx.bin`, `ifwi.bin`, `dnx_osr.bin` and
`fastboot-2.19.img.pos.bin`.Once you have specified the files, simply press Begin
Download and a progressbar (red) will appear on the USB icon on the phone.

The phone will automatically start up whencompleted; if the boot up screen changed
to an Intel inside image, there aretwo ways to change it back:
- Enter recovery and flash the genuine ROM.
- Flash the splashscreen back through fastboot.
1. Download FlashTools.zip and extractit into the ZenFone5 folder.
2. Then place Update_SplashScreen.bat into theZenFone5 folder.
3. Let the phone enter fastboot modeand connect it to the computer; then click and
execute Update_SplashScreen.bat.Just restart the phone when completed.

If the phone still cannot start up aftercompleting the steps mentioned above, or if the
phone still has problems afterflashing back to the genuine ROM through recover
(errors such as failed to mount /cacheetc. appears), we still haveone last resort.

- Download Reset.bat andplace it in the ZenFone5 folder.

- Let the phone enter fastboot mode and connectit to the computer, then click and
execute Reset.bat to initialize the phone.
- When completed, select to restore the recoveryfrom the genuine ROM and flash the
recover back into the phone (Note 2) byusing fastboot flash recovery
recovery.img,and then enter recovery and flash back to the genuine ROM.

Note 1: No universal methods; please refer to Build ZenFone recovery image from
boot.img to downloadthe corresponding genuine ROM for processing.
