The most memorable birthday celebration for me was when I had it last year. I had a trip with my
friends to Colorado for three days.
Early in the morning on the second day, I was woken up by all my friends wishing me 'Happy
Birthday', I was so happy that my eyes filled with tears. After my friends and I had breakfast, we
went to visit my favourite college, the University of Denver. I ever dreamed to study at this
university. Visiting it on my birthday was a blast. Then we went to an aquarium in Sea World
which we could feed some fishes. From that place we went shopping at a mall near the Sea
World. We spent so much time in the mall that we felt hungry. We found a nice restaurant and
enjoyed the meal.
After shopping, we went back to the hotel. I was surprised when one of my friends brought a cute
cheesecake as a gift ordered from the hotel. During the night we all stayed in one room having
fun by playing scrabble. Suddenly one of my friends put a traditional necklace around my neck.
It was a very pleasant surprise.
The next day we had to be back home. I was a little sad because I was going to miss the
interesting places and all my friends. Yet, I was excited to see my family who wanted to celebrate

Silkworms live for only two or three days after laying eggs. About 36.000 to
50.000 eggs are laid, and these are carefully stored at the silkworm farm until they are
ready to hatch. The eggs hatch into caterpillars, which feed on mulberry leaves. Soon,
the caterpillars are ready to spin silk cocoons. Only the caterpillars of silkworm moth
known as “Bombyx mari” can do such spinning. This caterpillar has special glands which
secrete liquid silk through its lower. The liquid produced later hardens to form fine
strands.

Technology brings problems as well as benefits to humankind. Since Henry
Ford began mass production in automobiles in 1908, automobiles have provided us
with a cheap and convenient means of transportation. However, they also brought
us traffic jams and air pollution.
The technological development that also change our lives as much as the
automobiles is the personal computer. Since the 1980s, personal computers have
become common in homes, schools, and businesses. However like the automobiles
unexpected problems, so have personal computers.
To begin with, communication via computer entails several problems.
Although we can easily send a message to hundreds of people instantly, we also
receive hundreds of messages, both wanted and unwanted, in a few minutes. It took
several hours to read them all. The lack of censorship in cyberspace is another
problem that no one has solved yet. For instance, a computer-literate child can
receive pornographic photos and listen to chat-room conversations about sex.
In addition, computers have also caused problems in business. They
potentially create opportunities for computerized crime. Computer criminals use
their skills to obtain secret business information and steal money. Moreover,
computers entails depersonalized business. People are no longer customers: they
are account numbers. Face-to-face business transactions are no longer necessary.
You can buy almost anything you need by computer, phone, or fax. It may be possible
someday to see a company who have never conducted physical interaction.

21. The text mainly discusses…

A. the problems and benefits of huge transportation production to humankind.
B. the problems of computer use for communication and business.
C. the change of human life because of technology advancement.

A. send warning about the development of technology and computer use.
B. convince the readers not to use computers for children at home.
C. elaborate the benefits of by using computer for communication and business.
D. influence the readers to be aware of the danger of using computer for

The Government should Provide Rehabilitation Program for Drug Users

Drug users are actually ill people who need help. Rehabilitation is one of main things
they should get instead of punishing drug users in prisons; the government should
provide rehabilitation for them
Most users are actually victims of persuasive peddlers and they supper from consuming
the drugs. Therefore, by rehabilitating them, we are actually helping them out from traps,

If we only arrest drug users and send them to jail, this doesn’t solve the problem as drug
users will still be addicted unless proper rehabilitation is imposed to them. Providing

better than only arresting them and doing nothing to their illness. Only drug dealers,

Insect-eating animals are sometimes called ant-eaters although they belong to
other groups of animals. One of them is ant-bear, which lives on the plains of south and

yellow and brown in color. Unlike true ant-eaters, it has small teeth.

Muslim’s Headscarf
Why religious modes of dress receive as much protection as these other aspects of
religious freedom?
Many Muslim women view the veil as a means to protect their modesty and privacy. Just
as we would not force any women to be seen in public in her underwear if she didn’t
feel comfortable doing so, why should a woman be forced to show her hair if she doesn’t
want to? Modesty is a personal judgment; some are comfortable in the smallest bikini
while others prefer a lot more clothing. No one but the women herself should make
decision.
Muslim women are not the only ones to feel coerced over their mode of dress. Most
people are affected by the societal norms surrounding them. Fashion trends could be seen
in exactly the same light as religious traditions. Banning head coverings is only likely to
provoke a more extreme reaction among highly religious communities. Framing laws to
ban only Islamic forms of dress could be considered as an attack on one religion. Feeling
under attack
Intolerant schools make up problems as an excuse for not allowing Muslims freedom of
religious expression. In a multicultural society, student should be aware of the different
religious practice and cultural traditions of their classmates, and be taught to understand
and respect these.
Based on the above discussion, the government should not banned Muslim’s Headscarf
as a part of school or office uniforms could cause the Islamic community to close off into
it. They could set up religious schools where their daughters can dress as they want them
and not mix with other faiths. These effects could never be good for the integration of
society and would further the influence of extremist.
35. What is the main idea of paragraph three?
A. Teach students social awareness among them.
B. Maintain solidarity among social communities.
C. Forbid head covering could provoke extreme reaction.
D. Making moslem women lose their identity as muslin
E. Arousing social conflict among social communities.

36. What is Muslim women’s view on veil?

It was a school holiday when my family went for a tour to Belitung Island, The
Island of “Negeri Laskar Pelangi’. We departed by plane from Surabaya and stopped for
a while in Sukarno Hatta Airport Jakarta. From there, we continued the journey to
Palembang-Batam-Bangka. From Bangka we continued the journey to Belitung by a ship
from Pangkal Balam harbor and arrived in Tanjung Pandan harbor an hour later. You
know, because of the well-known novel of Laskar Pelangi, the Tanjung Pandan harbor
was replaced by ‘Laskar Pelangi harbor. It was a long journey and made us feel so tired,
so we decided to check in to the hotel and have a rest.
The next day, we went to Gantung, the location where the movie ‘Laskar Pelangi’
was taken. We took some pictures of it and the school as the background. Then, we rented
for a small boat to the north of Tanjung Kelayang to Lengkuas Island. It is a small island
that can be travelled for about 20 minutes. The most interesting place there is the old
lighthouse built by the Dutch government in 1882. Having travelled around, we spent an
hour in Bukit Menumbing for lunch and did other interesting activities. We stayed in
Belitung for a week. It was long journey, but we felt excited that we could visit Belitung,
