Struktur navigasi sangat berguna pada sebuah website. Karena dengan adanya struktur navigasi kita
dapat mempermudah mengakses halaman-halaman yang tersedia pada sebuah website. Dibawah ini
akan ada beberapa pengertian dan macam-macam struktur navigasi menurut para ahli.

Struktur Navigasi Menurut Sutopo

Menurut Sutopo (2007:245) “Struktur Navigasi adalah struktur bagaimana halaman web dihubungkan
dengan halaman lain”. Menentukan struktur navigasi merupakan hal yang sebaiknya dilakukan sebelum
membuat website. Ada empat macam bentuk dasar struktur navigasi yaitu:

1. Linear navigation model

Digunakan oleh sebagian besar website. Informasi diberikan secara sekuensial dimulai dari satu
halaman. Beberapa desainer web menggunakan satu halaman untuk masuk atau keluar dari website.

2. Hierarchical model

Diadaptasi dari top-down design. Konsep navigasi ini dimulai dari satu node yang menjadi homepage.
Dari homepage dapat dibuat beberapa cabang ke halaman-halaman utama. Apabila diperlukan, dari tiap
halaman utama dapat dikembangkan menjadi beberapa cabang lagi. Hal ini seperti struktur organisasi
dalam perusahaan.

3. Spoke-and-hub model

Hanya menggunakan satu node untuk berhubungan dengan node lain. Pada model ini hanya terdapat
dua macam link, yaitu dari homepage ke halaman tertentu, dan dari halaman tersebut kembali ke
homepage.

4. Full web model

Memberikan kemampuan hyperlink yang banyak. Full web model banyak digunakan karena user dapat
mengakses semua topik dengan subtopik dengan cepat. Namun kelemahan dari model ini, yaitu dapat
berakibat user kehilangan cara untuk kembali ke topik sebelumnya.

Struktur Navigasi Menurut Suyanto dan Binanto

Menurut Suyanto (2008:62) “Struktur navigasi dalam situs web melibatkan sistem navigasi situs web
secara keseluruhan dan desain interface situs web tersebut, navigasi memudahkan jalan yang mudah
ketika menjelajahi situs web”. Struktur navigasi juga dapat diartikan sebagai struktur alur dari suatu
program yang merupakan rancangan hubungan dan rantai kerja dari beberapa area yang berbeda dan
dapat membantu mengorganisasikan seluruh elemen pembuatan website. Ada empat macam bentuk
dasar yaitu :

1. Struktur Navigasi Linier

Struktur navigasi linier hanya mempunyai satu rangkaian cerita yang berurut yang menampilkan satu
demi satu tampilan layar secara berurut menurut urutannya. Tampilan yang dapat ditampilkan pada
struktur jenis ini adalah satu halaman sebelumnya atau satu halaman sesudahnya, tidak dapat dua
halaman sebelumnya atau dua halaman sesudahnya, pengguna akan melakukan navigasi secara
berurutan, dalam frame atau byte informasi satu ke yang lainnya.

2. Struktur Navigasi Hirarki

Struktur dasar ini disebut juga struktur linier dengan percabangan karena pengguna melakukan navigasi
disepanjang cabang pohon struktur yang terbentuk oleh logika isi.

3. Struktur Navigasi Tidak Berurut (Non-Linier)

Struktur navigasi non-linier merupakan pengembangan dari struktur navigasi linier. Pada struktur ini
diperkenankan membuat navigasi bercabang. Percabangan yang dibuat pada struktur non-linier ini
berbeda dengan percabangan pada struktur hirarki, karena pada percabangan non-linear ini walaupun
terdapat percabangan tetap tiap-tiap tampilan mempunyai kedudukan yang sama yaitu tidak ada
Master Page dan Slave Page, pengguna akan melakukan navigasi dengan bebas melalui isi proyek
dengan tidak terikat dengan jalur yang sudah ditentukan sebelumnya.

4. Struktur Navigasi Campuran (Composite)

Struktur navigasi pengguna akan melakukan navigasi dengan bebas (secara non-linier), tetapi terkadang
dibatasi presentasi linier film atau informasi penting dan pada data yang paling terorganisasi secara logis
pada suatu hirarki.

Struktur Navigasi Web

Definisi Struktur Navigasi

Menurut Kurniawan (2010:213) Pada pengembangan aplikasi berbasis web, tentunya dalam membuat
lebih dari satu halaman web, bahkan bisa ratusan jika aplikasi yang dibangun kompleks. Oleh karenanya
navigasi adalah fitur yang harus disediakan. Navigasi berfungsi untuk berpindah dari satu halaman ke
halaman yang lain pada suatu aplikasi berbasis web, yang juga digunakan untuk memberikan informasi
lokasi halaman yang sedang dibuka.

Menurut Purnama (2004) Navigasi Web adalah bagian dari situs Web yang berguna untuk memandu
pengunjung menjelajahi isi situs dan menghantarkan pengunjung pada isi yang mereka cari.

Menurut Sutopo (2007:6) Dalam pengembangan web, terdapat beberapa model navigasi dasar, yang
harus dikenal dengan baik oleh desainer, Karena setiap model navigasi dapat memberikan solusi untuk
kebutuhan yang berbeda.

Macam-macam struktur navigasi antara lain:

1. Linear Navigation Model Sebagian besar website mempergunakan linear navigation model. Informasi
diberikan secara sekuensial dimulai dari satu halaman.

2. Hierarchical model Menurut Sutopo (2007:7) menerangkan bahwa “Hierarchical model diadaptasi
oleh top-down design. Konsep navigasi ini dimulai dari satu node yang menjadi homepage. Dari
homepage dapat dibuat beberapa cabang ke halaman-halaman utama”.

3. Spoke-and-hub model Dalam spoke-and-hub model hanya ada dua macam link yaitu dari homepage
ke halaman tertentu dan dari halaman tertentu ke halaman homepage. Spoke-and-hub model hanya
menggunakan satu node untuk menghubungkan satu node ke node yang lain.

4. Full Web Model Menurut Sutopo (2007:8) menerangkan bahwa “Full web model memberikan
kemampuan hyperlink yang banyak. Full web model banyak digunakan karena user dapat mengakses
semua topik dengan subtopik dengan cepat. Namun kelemahan dari model ini, yaitu dapat berakibat
user kehilangan cara untuk kembali ke topik sebelumnya”.

DEFINISI STRUKTUR NAVIGASI

lebih dari satu halaman web, bahkan bisa ratusan jika aplikasi yang dibangun kompleks. Oleh karenanya
navigasi adalah fitur yang harus disediakan. Navigasi berfungsi untuk berpindah dari satu halaman ke
halaman yang lain pada suatu aplikasi berbasis web, yang juga digunakan untuk memberikan informasi
lokasi halaman yang sedang dibuka.

4. Full Web Model

Menurut Sutopo (2007:8) menerangkan bahwa “Full web model memberikan kemampuan hyperlink
yang banyak. Full web model banyak digunakan karena user dapat mengakses semua topik dengan
subtopik dengan cepat. Namun kelemahan dari model ini, yaitu dapat berakibat user kehilangan cara
untuk kembali ke topik sebelumnya”.

Jenis – Jenis Struktur Navigasi Dalam Website

Menurut Prihatna (2005:51) “Struktur navigasi adalah struktur atau alur suatu program yang merupakan
rancangan hubungan dan rantai kerja dari beberapa area yang berbeda dan dapat membantu
mengorganisasikan seluruh elemen pembuatan website”.

Menentukan struktur navigasi merupakan halaman yang sebaiknya dilakukan sebelum membuat suatu
website. Ada empat macam bentuk dasar dari struktur navigasi yang biasa digunakan dalam proses
pembuatan website, yaitu:

1. Struktur Navigasi linier

Struktur navigasi linier hanya mempunyai satu rangkaian cerita yang berurut, yang menampilkan satu
demi satu tampilan layar secara berurut menurut urutannya. Tampilan yang dapat ditampilkan pada
struktur jenis ini adalah satu halaman sebelumnya atau satu halaman sesudahnya, tidak dapat dua
halaman sebelumnya atau dua halaman sesudahnya.

2. Struktur Navigasi Hirarki

Struktur navigasi hirarki biasa disebut struktur bercabang, merupakan suatu struktur yang
mengandalkan percabangan untuk menampilkan data berdasarkan kriteria tertentu.

Tampilan pada menu satu akan disebut sebagai Master Page (halaman utama pertama), halaman utama
ini mempunyai halaman percabangan yang disebut Slave Page (halaman pendukung). Jika salah satu
halaman pendukung dipilih atau diaktifkan, maka tampilan tersebut akan bernama Master Page
(halaman utama kedua) dan seterusnya. Pada navigasi ini tidak diperkenalkan adanya tampilan secara
linier.

3. Struktur Navigasi Non-Linier

Struktur navigasi Non-linier merupakan pengembangan dari struktur navigasi linier. Pada struktur ini
diperkenankan membuat navigasi bercabang. Percabangan pada struktur non linier ini berbeda dengan
percabangan pada struktur hirarki. Karena pada percabangan ini walaupun terdapat percabangan, tetapi
tiap-tiap tampilan mempunyai kedudukan yang sama yaitu tidak ada Master Page dan Slave Page.

4. Struktur Navigasi Composite (Campuran)

Struktur navigasi composite (campuran) disebut juga struktur navigasi bebas yang merupakan gabungan
dari ketiga struktur yang ada. Struktur navigasi ini biasa digunakan dalam pembuatan multimedia karena
dapat memberikan keinteraksian yang lebih tinggi.
