DO YOU KNOW?
Songs are aimed at entertaining the listeners. However, they are also
the artists’ medium for expressing their feelings. Sometimes moral
values are hidden in the lyrics. The language features of a song are as
follows.
1. Imagery is used to describe feelings and emotions, e.g. ‘When
people can be so cold’.
2. Rhythm is used to create the mood of the song.
3. Experiences sometimes told use figures of speech, e.g. ‘And you
need a helping hand’.
The structure of a song:
1. Verse is the main part of a song that tells a story.
2. Refrain/chorus is a part of the song that is repeated. The rhythm
of this part is distinct from the verse.
3. Coda is a line that closes a song.
The topic of our song is an inspiring role model.
