MATERI: CAUSATIVE CONJUNCTION

CONJUNCTION ( KATA SAMBUNG)

Konjungsi adalah kata yang menghubungkan kata dengan kata, frasa dengan frasa atau
klausa dengan klausa.
Ada 3 jenis konjungsi ;
1. Konjungsi Setara ( coordinating conjunction)
Coordinating Conjunction adalah kata hubung yang menggabungkan kata, frase, ataupun klausa
yang setara secara tata Bahasa. Dengan kata lain, coordinating conjunction menunjukkan
bahwa elemen yang digabungkan dalam satu kalimat memiliki struktur dan fungsi yang sama.
Dalam Bahasa inggris ada 7 coordinating conjunction, yaitu: For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so
(FANBOYS)
Contoh:
-We went to the Mall and bought some new clothes.
-Do you want to drink mango juice or coffee?
-He wants to buy a new car, but his money is not enough.
2. Konjungsi korelatif ( correlative conjunction)
Correlative Conjunction adalah kata hubung yang digunakan berpasangan dalam sebuah
kalimat untuk menunjukkan hubungan ataupun perbandingan antara dua kata, frasa, atau
klausa yang secara tata bahasa bersifat paralel atau kedudukannya setara. Correlative
Conjunction disebut juga dengan paired conjunction. Ada beberapa correlative conjunctions
yang sering digunakan dalam bahasa Inggris, antara lain:
contoh : not only....but also..., both....and......., neither........nor......, either...or....
Contoh:
-Neither Yani nor Nurul can play badminton.
-I want both mango and apple.
-He buys not only a new house but also a new car.
3. Konjungsi bertingkat ( subordinating conjunction)
Subordinating Conjunctions adalah kata hubung yang menggabungkan dua atau lebih klausa
yang tidak setara. Dengan kata lain, kata hubung ini digunakan untuk menunjukkan hubungan
yang bertolak belakang, sebab-akibat, dan hubungan antar klausa. Umumnya, subordinate
conjunctions menggabungkan independent clause (klausa yang dapat berdiri sendiri) dengan
dependent clause (klausa yang tidak dapat berdiri sendiri) untuk membuat sebuah complex
sentence (kalimat yang kompleks). Dalam bahasa Inggris, subordinating conjunctions yang
paling sering digunakan antara lain because, since, as, although, while, dan whereas.
Contohnya:
-Because of the storm, our flight is delayed.
-While waiting for him, we can start our class now.
-When he was washing my car, I went to the store.
-Even though the weather was horrible, they still went outside.

Causative conjunction
Konjungsi ini digunakan untuk menggabungkan dua klausa yang bersifat tidak setara, ; main
clause dengan subordinate clause ( induk kalimat dengan anak kalimat).
Konjungsi bertingkat yg menunjukkan hubungan sebab akibat (cause and effect )

1. Because 7. so that
2. since 8. in order that
3. Now that 9.Since
4. as 10. because of / due to
5. as long as 11. therefore/consequently
6. is as much as 12. such....that/ so....that....

NOTE : Because of/ due to + phrase

 Because/ Since .....+ Clause
So…..that….+adjective/adverb
Such……that…..+ phrase/clause

Bianca : So do I. Do you see anything good listed on the internet ?
Audrey : How about this ? A sales executive to sale a used vehicles
Bianca : Like motorcycles and cars ? No, thanks and anyway, I’m such a bad person in
Persuading people that I’m not good at selling things.
Audrey : Well, I am I might check that one out. Oh here’s one for you. An assistant
Entertainment director on a cruise ship.
Bianca : That sounds like fun. I like travelling and I’ve never been on a cruise ship. It will be
Such an exciting job that I’m looking forward to knowing it further.
Audrey : It says here that the job requires such long working hours that you will have to work
Every day while the ship is at sea.
Bianca : That’s OK I don’t mind working long hours if they pay is good. What’s the phone
