A. PENGERTIAN PROCEDURE TEXT

Procedure Text adalah sebuah bacaan yang menjelaskan tentang

urutan cara/langkah dalam mengerjakan sesuatu. Cara disusun

secara berurutan dalam bentuk instruksi-instruksi atau perintah-

perintah untuk dilaksanakan.

Procedure Text is a reading that explains the sequence of ways /

steps in doing something. The method is arranged sequentially in

the form of instructions or orders to be carried out.

B. TUJUAN FUNGSIONAL

Merujuk pada pengertian procedure text, maka tujuan dari sebuah

procedure text adalah untuk menjelaskan cara/langkah dalam

mengerjakan sesuatu secara berurutan.

The purpose of Procedure text is to explain how to / steps / ways in

doing something sequentially.

C. STRUKTUR TEKS

Ketika kamu akan berbagi resep/tutorial kepada oranglain,

kamu harus menuliskan prosedurmu dengan benar dan

menarik. Agar teks yang kamu buat bisa dipahami oleh

pembaca, maka kamu perlu memahami struktur teks yang

pada umumnya dimiliki oleh Procedure text.

 Goals/ aim:

Pada bagian ini, kamu harus menuliskan tujuan dari

procedure text kamu. Tujuan ini bisa kamu buat sebagai

judul. Penulisan judul bisa diawali dengan kata how to,

steps of, atau langsung pada tujuannnya,

Contoh :

- How to make dalgona coffee.

- Steps of making fried rice

- Cooking rice using rice cooker

- Operating washing machine, dll

 Materials /Ingredients / tools:

Pada bagian ini, kamu harus menuliskan bahan-bahan,

peralatan, atau perlengkapan yang akan digunakan dalam

procedure text. Sub judul yang biasanya digunakan bisa

berupa :

 Ingredients (untuk prosedur makan/minuman),

 Materials (untuk prosedur selain makana/minuman)

 tools (untuk peralatan yang digunakan).

Dalam procedure text, bagian ini tidak wajib untuk

dituliskan, jadi optional (pilihan) saja.

 Steps

Pada bagian ini, kamu menyebutkan langkah -

langkah yang akan dilakukan dalam procedure text. Ikuti

ketentuan-ketentuan dalam menuliskan langkah-

langkah, seperti penggunaan imperative sentence, simple

tense, connective of sequence, numbering, dan adverb.

(Baca pada bagian unsur kebahasaan). Sub judul yang

biasanya dipakai untuk menjelaskan langkah langkah

seperti:

- how to make

- Steps

- Directions

- ways, dll

 Notes

Hal-hal yang bisa dituiskan pada bagian adalah jika ada

keterangan-keterangan lain yang berkenaan dengan

procedure text. Bisa seperti jumlah porsi yang bisa

dibuat, cara penyajian menu, cara penyimpanan menu,

tips supaya bahan awet, dll.

D. UNSUR KEBAHASAAN

a. Imperative:

Imperative adalah kalimat perintah. Biasanya

menggunakan Action Verb (kegiatan fisik) atau Verb 1

seperti:

Remove the oxygen absorber from the inside pouch.


Slowly add up to 300 ml hot water, stir as you pour and
then close the bag. Wait 5-8 minutes for the food to
rehydrate.

Untuk membuat langkah-langkah dalam prosedur, awali

kalimatnya dengan imperative ini.

b. Simple present tense:

Kalimat-kalimat Procedure text ditulis dalam bentuk

Simple present tense. Mengapa? Karen a hal-hal

yang ditulis adalah fakta yang terjadi pada waktu

melakukan kegiatan. Seperti:

- mix sugar, water, and milk in a blender (bukan

mixed)

- pour the syrup (bukan poured)

- blend the mixture well (bukan blended)

- click the play button (bukan clicked)

c. Connective of sequence:

Connective of sequence dalam Bahasa Indonesia adalah

kata penghubung. Kata ini digunakan untuk

menghubungkan langkah yang satu dengan yang lainnya,

Seperti:

- Then (kemudian)

- While (ketika)

- Next (selanjutnya)

- After that (setelah itu)

- After (setelah)

- Before (sebelum)

- Last (terakhir)

- Finally (akhirnya), dan lain sebagainya.

d. Numbering

Numbering atau penomoran digunakan untuk

menunjukkan urutan langkah-langkah procedure text.

angka-angka yang digunakan bisa berbentuk ordinal

number (1, 2, 3, dst) atau cardinal numbers (first, second,

third, fourth, dsb).

Adapula prosedur yang tidak memakai penomoran, tetapi

langkah-langkah ditulis dalam bentuk paragraph.

e. Adverb

Adverb atau kata keterangan jumlah digunakan untuk

menjelaskan hal-hal yang ada dalam kalimat procedure

text. Biasanya ada 3 adverb yang digunakan:

- Adverb of quantity (kata keterangan jumlah)

digunakan untuk menjelaskan jumlah/takaran bahan

yang digunakan. Seperti:

a kilo of …

2 tbsp(tablespoon) of …

4 tsp (teaspoon) of …

A slice of …

3 bunches of …, dll

- Adverb of time (keterangan waktu) digunakan untuk

menjelaskan waktu atau durasinya dalam melakukan

langkah-langkah. Seperti

for 10 minutes (selama 10 menit)

in one hour (dalam 1 jam), dll.

- Adverb of manner (keterangan cara melakukan)

digunakan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana cara

melakukan langkah-langkah dalam procedure text.

Seperti slowly, fastly, carefully, thoroughly, well, dll
