DISTINGUISH OTHER, ANOTHER, AND OTHERS
Other, another, and others are very
easy to confuse. To decide how to
use each of them cor- rectly, you
must consider three things:
(1)if it is singular or plural,
(2)if it is definite (the) or indefinite
(a, an), and
(3)if it is an adjective (it appears with
a noun) or if it is a pro- noun (it
appears by itself).
Penggunaan other, another, and others itu Sangat
mudah bingung. Untuk memutuskan bagaimana
menggunakan masing-masing dengan benar, Anda
harus mempertimbangkan tiga hal:
1)Jika itu tunggal (singular) atau jamak (plural)
2)jika itu pasti /definite (the) atau tidak pasti/
indefinite (a, an)
3)jika itu adalah kata sifat (muncul dengan kata
benda) atau jika itu pronoun – kata benda (muncul
dengan sendirinya tanpa kata benda).
Notice that you use another only to refer to an indefinite, singular idea. Others is
used only as a plural pronoun (not accompanied by a noun). In all other cases, other
is correct.

Perhatikan bahwa Anda menggunakan another hanya untuk merujuk pada ide
tunggal yang tidak terbatas.
Others digunakan hanya sebagai kata ganti jamak (tidak disertai kata benda).
Other di semua kasus other adalah benar.
 Perhatikan contoh dan identifikasi apakah c atai i dan bagaimana
alasannya:

1. It is essential to complete the first program before

working on the others.
Sangat penting untuk menyelesaikan program pertama
sebelum mengerjakan yang lain.
Identifikasi:
1. The first program itu definite dibuktikan dengan adanya the
dan definite karena spesifik the first ( pertama) berarti
sudah pasti yg dimaksud adalah first program
2. Namun program itu sifatnya jamak sehingga plural
3. Maka penggunaan others disini sudah benar. Atau Correct.

Ingat :Others digunakan hanya sebagai kata ganti jamak

(tidak disertai kata benda).
