1. Sekumpulan pelajar telah menjalankan eksperimen untuk mengkaji hubungan antara nisbah
jumlah luas permukaan per isipadu dan kadar resapan air.
A group of students carried out an experiment to study the relationship between the total surface area
to volume ratio and the rate of water diffusion.
Langkah-langkah berikut telah dijalankan.
The following steps were carried out.

Langkah 1. Step 1.
Tiga kiub P, Q dan R daripada jeli disediakan dengan sisi berukuran 3 cm, 4 cm dan 5 cm
masing-masing seperti yang ditunjukkan pada pada Rajah 1.1.
3 cubes P, Q and R from jelly are prepared with sides 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm respectively as shown in
Diagram 1.1.

Satu span berketebalan 50 mm diletakkan di dalam sebuah basin. Plastisin digunakan untuk
melekatkan span tersebut pada dasar basin. 5% larutan eosin dituangkan ke dalam basin
sehingga aras 1 mm dari bahagian atas span. Sebelum itu, keseluruhan span telah dibasahkan
dengan larutan eosin
A piece of sponge approximately 50 mm thick is placed on the floor of a basin. Plasticine is used to
fasten the sponge on the floor of the basin. 5% eosin solution is poured into the basin until 1 mm away
from the
top of the sponge.The whole sponge is also wet with eosin solution.

Ketiga-tiga kiub jeli tersebut dilap dengan kertas turas dan diletakkan perlahan-lahan di atas span
supaya bahagian bawah kiub jeli tersebut sahaja yang menyentuh larutan eosin. Larutan eosin
ditambahkan dari masa ke semasa supaya ketinggian 1 mm dari bahagian atas span dapat
dikekalkan.
The three jelly cubes are then wiped with filter paper and placed slowly on the top of the sponge so that
their bottom portion is just touching the solution. The solution is added constantly to maintain its height of
1 mm away from the sponge top.

Selepas 20 minit, ketiga-tiga kiub dikeluarkan dengan berhati-hati dan dilap dengan kertas turas.
Setiap kiub dipotong menegak kepada dua bahagian yang sama saiz. Bahagian dasar kiub
didapati berwarna merah. Ketinggian bahagian yang berwarna diukur. Semua keputusan
eksperimen direkodkan dalam Jadual 1.1.
After 20 minutes, each cube is taken out carefully and wiped with filter paper. They are cut vertically into
two halves.The lower part of the cubes are found to be coloured red. The height of the coloured portion
is
measured. All the results are recorded in Table 1.1.

2. Vitamin C ialah antioksidan yang diperlukan oleh badan untuk pertumbuhan dan penggantian tisu
serta untuk gusi yang sihat. Badan kita tidak boleh menghasilkan Vitamin C tetapi ia boleh
diperolehi melalui makanan atau dalam bentuk tambahan. Vitamin C banyak diperolehi dari buah
beri, sayuran hijau dan buah-buahan sitrus seperti lemon dan oren.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is required in the body for growth and tissue replacement and also for
healthy gums. Our bodies cannot produce Vitamin C but it can be obtained through diet or in supplement
form. Vitamin C is derived from berries, green vegetables and citrus fruits, for examples lemon and
orange.

Berdasarkan pernyataan di atas, rancang satu eksperimen dalam makmal untuk mengkaji
kepekatan vitamin C di dalam jus jambu batu yang segar dan jus jambu batu yang telah terdedah
di udara.
Based on the above information, design a laboratory experiment to determine the concentration of Vitamin
C in fresh guava juice and exposed guava juice.
