Hello, all my smart students, welcome to English lesson, in this unit,

we are going to learn about Greetings, leave taking/Parting, Thanking
and Apologizing. Do you know, what are they? Let’s learn together to
know more about it.

A. Lesson One: Greetings and Leave taking/Parting

Greeting

Greeting merupakan ungkapan sapaan atau salam dalam bahasa Inggris,

ungkapan ini ada dua macam, yaitu Formal dan Informal Greeting. Formal
greeting digunakan pada situasi atau keadaan formal atau belum familiar,
sedangkan Informal greeting digunakan pada situasi atau keadaan santai,
biasanya sudah familiar atau sudah kenal dengan lawan bicara dan tidak resmi.

1. Good morning digunakan dari jm 00.00 s/d 12.00 (Jam 00 dini hari sampai dengan 12 siang)
2. Good day / noon diucapkan jam 12.00 siang
3. Good afternoon diucapkan dari jam 12.00 siang s/d jam 18.00 sore
4. Good evening diucapakn jam 06.00 sore s/d 24.00 (00.00) dini hari
5. Good night diugunakan untuk mengucapkan selamt berpisah / selamat tidur
6. p.m (post merediem) = dari jam 12.00 siang s/d 24.00 malam
7. a.m (ante merediem) = dari jam 24.00/00.00 s/d 12.00 siang
8. Di Indonesia menggunakan jam system 24 jam sedangkan di Inggris/Amerika menggunakan
Leave taking/parting
system 12 jam dengan menggunakan a.m dan p.m untuk membedakan malam dan siang.
Leave taking / parting adalah ungkapan
Pamitan/Perpisahan yang terdiri terdiri dari dua
jenis, yaitu Formal dan Informal.
