ABSTRACT
Background: Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death in the world, one of the most
common types of cardiovascular disease and a cause of death in the world is Coronary Heart
Disease (CHD). Epidemiological data show cardiovascular disease (PKV) is the main cause
of death in developed and developing countries. LDL cholesterol is an important factor for
the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. Lowering LDL cholesterol can reduce the
incidence and mortality of cardio and cerebrovascular disease.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between LDL cholesterol and the
incidence of coronary heart disease at dr.H.Chasan Boesoirie Ternate Hospital.
Methods: The design of this study was an analytic study with a cross sectional study design
using aapproach retrospective. The study sample was patients diagnosed with CHD with
LDL-cholesterol laboratory results, which met the inclusion criteria. Types and sources of
data were medical records and patient characteristics data and for statistical analysis thetest
was used chi-square.
Results: The average male CHD patients were more than women with the most age range of
CHD patients was> 50 years, with CHD patients having more LDL-cholesterol levels> 130
mg / dl. there is a correlation between LDL cholesterol and the incidence of CHD with a
value of P = 0.000 or (p <0.05), this shows that there is a significant relationship between
cholesterol-LDL levels and the incidence of CHD.
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between LDL-cholesterol and the incidence
of CHD in patients seeking treatment at dr. H. Chasan Boesoirie in 2019-2020.
