 Noun (Kata Benda)
• Mengacu pada makhluk hidup, tempat, hal,
atau benda
• Terbagi menjadi 3 kategori
- berdasarkan jenisnya: common noun, proper
noun, collective noun, abstract noun, dan
material noun
- berdasarkan jumlahnya: singular dan plural
- berdasarkan bentuknya: countable dan
uncountable
 Common Noun
• Sebutan umum yang dipakai untuk menamai
orang, tempat, hewan, dan benda

Contoh:
• We pray in a mosque.
• A girl is playing with her doll.
 Proper Noun
• Selalu ditulis dengan huruf kapital dan
merujuk pada sebuah nama (negara, kota,
nama orang)
Contoh:
• Pieta is a masterpiece of Renaissance
sculpture by Michelangelo.
• Cheryl loves Singapore a lot.
 Collective Noun
• Nama yang digunakan untuk menamai
sekelompok orang, binatang, atau sejumlah
barang
Contoh:
• A troupe of dancers are joining the audition.
• The resident advisor has a bunch of keys to all
the dorm rooms.
 Abstract Noun
• Digunakan untuk menamai hal-hal yang
bersifat abstrak atau hal-hal yang tidak bisa
dilihat dengan mata
 love, friendship, hatred, youth, childhood,
death
Contoh:
• A man who is drawn in anger can be very
dangerous.
 Material Noun
• Nama dari benda-benda yang berasal dan ada
di alam
 water, air, land, sand, soul, salt
Contoh:
• Each drop of water is precious.
• The farmers cultivate the land twice a year.
 Singular and Plural Noun
• Singular: kata benda yang jumlahnya tunggal
• Plural: kata benda yang jumlahnya jamak
Contoh:
• A tourist (singular) lost while the other
tourists (plural) were following the guide.
• Jack is the only man (singular) who wears
casual clothes among all men (plural)
 Countable Noun
• Digunakan untuk orang atau benda yang
dapat dihitung
• Memiliki bentuk plural
Contoh:
• Book – books
• Student – students
• Sister – sisters
 Uncountable Noun
• Digunakan untuk orang atau benda yang tidak
dapat dihitung
Contoh:
• Rice
