NOUN (Kata Benda)

Noun (kata benda) adalah suatu kata yang menunjukkan nama orang, nama tempat, atau
nama suatu benda atau segala sesuatu yang dibendakan.
A noun is the part of speech that names a person, place, thing, or idea.

1. Person (Orang): Brother, judge, athlete, teacher, mother-in-law

2. Place (Tempat): Neighborhood, country, city, school, class
3. Thing (Benda): Book, shoe, flower, pencil, car, bike
4. Idea (Gagasan): Pride, skill, truth, democracy, success

Noun terdiri dari beberapa jenis, berikut adalah jenis-jenis noun:

1. Countable dan Uncountable Noun

Countable Noun merupakan jenis kata benda yang dapat di hitung dan memiliki jumlah. Contoh:

 Mango —> Mangoes (Mangga—> beberapa mangga)

 Apple—-> Apples (Apel—> beberapa apel)
 Man—–>Men (Laki-laki—-> beberapa laki-laki)

Uncountable Noun merupakan jenis kata benda yang tidak dapat di hitung jumlahnya kecuali
menggunaka media. contoh:

 Sugar (gula)  water (air)

 oil (minyak)  sand (pasir)

Jika menggunakan media,maka uncountable noun tersebut dapat di hitung. Contoh :

 A spoon of sugar (sesendok gula)

 A bottle of oil (sebotol minyak)
 A glass of water (satu gelas air)
 A sack of sand (satu sak pasir)

2. Proper Noun dan Common Noun

Proper noun merupakan jenis kata benda yang dalam penggolongan nya sagat spesifik (biasanya
menggunakan huruf kapital pada huruf awalnya) Contoh :

 Gramedia  Jogjakarta
 Jakarta  Indonesia
Common noun merupakan jenis kata benda yang penggolongaya sangat umum atau secara umum.
Contoh :

 city (kota)  market (pasar)

 shop (toko)  town (kota)

3. Abstract Noun dan Concrete Noun

Abstract noun merupakan kata benda yang tidak dapat di amati dengan panca indra. Contoh:

 Love : cinta  feel : perasaan

 Hate : benci  idea : ide
 romance : romansa romantis
Concrete Noun merupakan kata benda yang dapat di amati dengan panca indra. Contoh:

 Book : buku
 school : sekolah
 house : rumah  bread : roti
 people : orang-orang

4. Collective Noun

Collective noun merupakan kata benda yang terdiri dari nama kelompok. Contoh :

 Class : kelas  bucket : buket

 Team : tim  pair : sepasang
