ABSTRACT
The substation is a combination of transformers, protection systems and
switchgear circuits that are combined in one unit. One of the protection systems
used in substations is a differential relay. This research discusses the magnitude
of the error mismatch value and the value of the differential setting current and
its effect on the inrush current and the short circuit fault current. The calculation
results obtained on the differential relay, namely the error mismatch value on the
current transformer of the glugur substation is still below the maximum limit of
5% because the calculation results of each current transformer both on the 150
kV side are 0.89% and the 20 kV side is 1, 13%. From the calculation results, the
setting current is 0.1 A. Thus, the installed differential setting current is 0.3 A.
After the differential relay test is carried out, the power transformer re-energizes
and the reenergization does not affect the working percentage of the differential
relay. The differential relay condition with the slope obtained from the
calculation of 12% and an id of 0.1 A is not responsive to inrush currents. And
the maximum current limit allowed to flow on the 20 kV side is 1862 A. If the
current flowing exceeds 1862 A, then the differential relay will work or if the
current flowing does not exceed 1862 A then the differential relay will not work.
