ABSTRAK

Penuaan merupakan proses perubahan dalam struktur dan fungsi sel, jaringan
serta sistem organ termasuk terjadi perubahan anatomi, morfologi dan fungsional
pada rongga mulut. Penyakit periodontal merupakan penyakit infeksi yang
disebabkan oleh akumulasi bakteri yang dapat menyebabkan peradangan di sekitar
jaringan pendukung gigi yaitu gingiva, ligamen periodontal, dan tulang alveolar.
Usia merupakan salah satu faktor predisposisi terjadinya penyakit periodontal.
Community Periodontal Index for Treatment Needs berguna untuk memberikan
gambaran tentang kebutuhan perawatan penyakit periodontal masyarakat, survei
epidemiologi, dan promosi kesehatan periodontal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini
adalah untuk mengetahui deskripsi status periodontal lansia berdasarkan CPITN
di Puskesmas Kecamatan Padang Selatan tahun 2018. Jenis penelitian yang
digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif, untuk melihat tingkat kebutuhan
perawatan periodontal pada lansia di Kecamatan Padang Selatan. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan indeks CPITN di Kecamatan Padang Selatan yaitu skor 0 sebanyak
6 orang (1,7%), skor 2 sebanyak 137 orang (37,8%), skor 3 sebanyak 208 orang
(57,5%) dan skor 4 sebanyak 11 orang (3%). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah
mayoritas kondisi jaringan periodontal lansia paling banyak mengalami poket
periodontal sedalam 3-5 mm (skor 3) sebanyak 208 orang (57,5%) sehingga lansia
di Kecamatan Padang Selatan membutuhkan perawatan profesional dan
peningkatan kebersihan rongga mulut.

 ABSTRACT

Aging is a process of change in the structure and function of cells, tissues and
organ systems, including anatomical, morphological and functional changes in
the oral cavity. Periodontal disease is an infectious disease caused by the
accumulation of bacteria that can cause inflammation around the supporting
tissues of the gingiva, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone. Age is one of the
predisposing factors for the occurrence of periodontal disease. The Community
Periodontal Index for Treatment Needs is useful for providing an overview of the
needs of community periodontal disease treatment, epidemiological surveys, and
periodontal health promotion. The purpose of this study was to determine the
description of periodontal status of elderly people based on CPITN in Southern
Padang District Health Center in 2018. The type of research used was descriptive
research, to see the level of periodontal care needs in the elderly in Southern
Padang District. The results showed that the CPITN index in Southern Padang
District was a score of 0 as many as 6 people (1.7%), a score of 2 as many as 137
people (37.8%), a score of 3 as many as 208 people (57.5%) and a score of 4 as
many as 11 people (3%). The conclusion of this study is that the majority of
elderly periodontal tissue conditions experience the most periodontal pockets as
deep as 3-5 mm (score 3) as many as 208 people (57.5%) so that the elderly in
Southern Padang Subdistrict need professional care and improvement of oral
hygiene.
