in their life. College Students are a component of society that is quite large in
number and will have a major influence on the economy. The ability to manage
personal finance has become increasingly important in today’s world. The study
about personal finance is challenging to be investigated, due to the rare of
research regarding this topic. This research is aim to know the influence of self-
control, optimism and deliberative thinking toward financial behavior and its
impact towards financial well-being of college student on Faculty of Economics
and Business, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.
The research methodology that used in this study is a case study with
survey research method. Judgement sampling technique derived from non-
probability sampling techniques are used for sample selection. The sample of this
research are 337 respondents and used the OLS as the model estimation.
The results of this study indicate that self-control and deliberative thinking

financial behavior. Then, self-control significantly affects financial well-being.
Surprisingly, the financial behavior does not affect the financial well-being of the
college student and other variables such as optimism and deliberative thinking
also do not affect financial well-being. This result could give evidence about the
factors affecting financial behavior and financial well-being thus it could give the
implications to the college student and financial institutions for increasing the
