RECOUNT TEXT
(My Idol)
A. Pengertian & Fungsi Recount Text
Recount text merupakan salah satu jenis teks dalam bahasa Inggris
yang menceritakan kembali kejadian-kejadian atau pengalaman-
pengalaman yang telah dialami di masa lampau sesuai urutan
kejadian (chronological order). Selain itu teks ini mempunyai tujuan
untuk memberitahukan sebuah peristiwa, kejadian, atau kegiatan
yang telah terjadi.
B. Jenis Recount Text
Jenis recount text terbagi menjadi 4:
1. Personal Recount | menceritakan pengalaman pribadi penulis.
2. Factual Recount | merekam sebuah kejadian seperti percobaan
sains (science experiment), laporan polisi (police report).
3. Imaginative Recount | menceritakan rinci kejadian sebuah cerita
fiksi dalam bentuk lampau. Imaginative merupakan jenis recount
text yang bertujuan untuk menyajikan suatu kisah imaginative atau
khayalan. Kemudian dituangkan ke dalam cerita peristiwa atau
kejadian yang sudah terjadi.

memberikan pengetahuan sekaligus memberikan pemahaman
kepada pembaca kaitannya dengan sejarah tertentu. Jenis teks ini
juga memiliki struktur umum, seperti teks recount pada umumnya
yakni, Orientation, Events, dan Rerorentation. 
C. Generic Structure of Recount Text
Struktur umum (generic structure) dalam recount text  terbagi
menjadi 3 bagian, yaitu:
1. Orientation (Pengenalan)| berisi pengenalan dengan memberikan
informasi tentang siapa, apa, di mana, dan kapan peristiwa atau
kegiatan itu yang telah terjadi di masa lampau.
2. Events (Peristiwa-peristiwa) | merupakan runtutan peristiwa yang
terjadi, biasanya disampaikan dalam urutan secara kronologis
(chronogical order) seperti, “In the first day, I …, And in the next
day …, And In the last day …”.
3. Re-orientation (Kesimpulan teks) | yaitu pengulangan pengenalan
yang ada di orientation dan events yang diceritakan. Bisa dibilang
pada bagian ini adalah kesimpulan secara keseluruhan teks

Meeting My Idol Analisis
Afgan has always been my favorite Orientation

memorabilia. Finally, after about 40
or 50 minutes wait, Afgan showed
up from inside the radio station. He
smiled and waved to all Afganism
who had been waiting excitedly
saying, “Good morning. How are
you all?” The crowd went crazy. The
shouts sounded like a mix of “Fine,
thank you” and screams of Afgan’s
name.

ACTIVITY
Analyze of the recount text about idols below includes the
generic structure, types of recount text, linguistic elements, and
the vocabulary in it.
TEXT 1
I am an army, the BTS fandom name. So, one day I get the chance to
go to The BTS Meet and Greet event after I purchase their album
and mini album. It was at a famous mall in Jakarta. I was so excited.
I went to the venue early because I want to make sure I am not late. I
go thought the document checking and enter the place. I found a seat
and chat with other fans. When the event starts, I waited patiently. I
was very happy just seeing their faces up and close. It was
something that I cannot do in concert. So, when it is my turn, I go to
their table and ask autographs and photos.
Finally, the meet and greet event was finally finished. I took one
more glimpse of the boys and take photos from a distance. Then, I
walked out of the mall. It was a very memorable experience that I
will always remember.
TEXT 2
Last year, I experienced a great memory. I come across my idol. I
hadn’t met a glory in my real life earlier, so I didn’t expect that i
would run across my idol. At that fourth dimension I had lunch with
some of my friends at eatery. We merely talked and enjoyed our
meals. Of a sudden 1 of my friends who was sitting in front of me
looked very suprised. I asked her why, only she couldn’t respond.
So, I looked behind. I was very suprised and my heart shell faster. I
saw Raisa inbound the restaurant with some of his friends. I dear her
songs very much and I have all her albums.
One of my friends told me to go close her. That would exist my first
and last take chances to come across her. Then I prepared my notes
to inquire a signature, and took out my handphone to accept a
picture. Actually, I was nervous to meet a celebrity like her, but I
didn’t want to waste this opportunity. Raisa was having tiffin while
chatting. I walked to her but I was afraid if someone didn’t let me to
get close her. All the same, Raisa smiled and welcomed me. She
looked happy when I got closed her. Then I directly asked her
signature and told her that she is my idol. I asked to have a movie
with me too. Then Raisa smiled and said yeah. We took a picture. I
was so happy.
I framed the picture show beautifully and put it in my facebook and
so that many people could see it. That was my beautiful experience
in meeting my favorite celebrity, Raisa.
TEXT 3
My name is Jesika and I am Agnes Mo’s fans. Yesterday, I met her
for the first time in my life. And so, I went to her concert. After the
concert was over, I went to talk with Agnes Mo. I talk with Agnes
Mo about her music that she plays. When we were talking Agnes
Mo did most of the talking.
In the case information technology went really well for me and
Agnes Mo. What I learned nearly Agnes Mo was that she is a caring
person, and has songs that make girls feel good about themselves.
My idol is just what I expected because he was nice to me and
Agnes Mo took the time to talk to me, and she gave me tickets for
the next concert.
TEXT 4
I usually go to the market every two weeks. I don’t really like
shopping but sometimes I just have to. So, I go to this traditional
market in BSD. It was a modern building so the floor is tiled and
nothing wet or smelly.
Then I saw a crowd on one side of the market. It has cameras and
also lightning. I thought, there must be a news reporter or
something. I don’t usually want to know those things. However, that
day i was curious. I move toward the crowd and manage to get in
front. It was a shooting show by Nia Ramadhani my favorite idol.
She was talking with another famous person.
I waited for the shooting until she is finished and approaches Nia
Ramadhani. I asked for a selfie and she said yes. So, we take out a
photo together instead. Then, I say thanks and move from the crowd.
I want to give other fans a chance to take photos too.
TEXT 5
Last week Super Junior-M or Su Ju-M, a famous Korean boy band
that is widely known for its pop songs and dance, performed in
Jakarta. The band of eight boys were to perform on Sunday night
and they had arrived in Jakarta one day before the concert.
They arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Saturday evening. To
welcome them, several fans and decided to wait for them at the hotel
they were booked into. After waiting for several minutes, they
arrived. We cheered happily and wanted to shake their hands.
However, their management wanted the boy band to have a rest for a
while. They promised that there would be a press conference later.
Not long after, the boy band had a press conference at the hotel
lobby. During the final section, many fans, including me, took
photographs with them and received their autographs.
On Sunday night we went
to the convention hall where the concert was held, by taxi. The
concert was due to begin at eight, but we had arrived there at six
thirty. The tickets were sold out and it was very crowded. You know
what! Most of the audience were teenagers, especially girls, and
many of them wore K-pop costumes. The police and security
officers guarded the line between the stage and audience. They
didn't let anyone jump onto the stage.
At about eight, the boy band appeared on stage. They sang their
songs and danced. During the concert, they also introduced their
new songs. The audience cheered, sang and followed their dances.
At the end of the concert, the band said thank you in Indonesian or
terima kasih and the audience gave them a big round of applause.
Overall, the concert was a success.
