ASKING FOR & GIVING OPINION

= Ungkapan meminta pendapat dan memberi pendapat

Opinion includes  the words of opinion and argument/ reasons.. ( Pendapat mencakup kata kata dari opini dan
alasan)

Dialog 1

1. Mr. Zoe   :  What do you think of my new house?

Shane     :  It is beautiful. I think. Oh you have many novels in your new house.

2. Mr. Zoe   :  Yeah, some. I like Andrea Hirata’s novels.

Shane     :  How do you feel about Andrea Hirata’s novels ?
Mr. Zoe   :  I feel they are great novels.

Perhatikan pada kalimat yang digaris bawah sbb :

1. What do you think of my new house? ( apa pendapat anda engenai rumah baru saya ? )
2. How do you feel about Andrea Hirata’s novels ? ( Apa pendapat kamu tentang novel Andrea Hirata ? )

Kedua kalimat tersebut diatas merupakan ungkapan “ ASKING FOR OPINION “ ( ungkapan meminta
pendepat )

Sekarang perhatikan kalimat yang dicetak tebal sbb:

1. It is beautiful. I think
2. I feel they are great novels.

Kedua kalimat tersebut adalah respon dari meminta pendapat yang dengan kata lain disebut juga dengan “
GIVING OPINION” ( Memberikan pendapat )

Berikkut ini adalah daftar ungkapan meminta pendapat . Pelajari dengan baik. Sebuah ungkpan meminta
pendapat bisa berbentuk
1. FORMAL ( resmi ) dan
2. INFORMAL ( tidak resmi)

Dalam bahasa indonesia ungkapan tersebut yang terdapat pada 2 kolom diatas bisa diartikan dengan “ APA
PENDAPATMU TENTANG......?
Cuma dalam bahasa inggris lebih banyak variasi pertanyaannya .

Untuk memberi pendapat kita bisa memulai dengan ungkapan sbb :

v      Informal Expressions digunakan dalam situasi dimana anda sedang berbicara antara teman atau teman
dekat

v     Formal Expressions are used in a situation where you are talking in a formal situation digunakan dalam
situasi dimana anda sedang berbicara dalam situasi resmi sperti di kantor ata di sekolah antara guru
dengan siswa
.

Ketika seseorang memberikan pendapatnya , seseorang yang lain bisa meresponnya dengan ungkapan
( AGREE) atau tidak setuju ( DISAGREE) . Perhatikan contoh sbb :
