Menggunakan “there is”


“there is” berarti “ada”. Dalam penggunaannya, “there is” selalu diikuti oleh kata benda
tunggal atau singular noun. “there is” digunakan untuk noun yang jumlahnya hanya satu.
noun yang berbentuk singular akan diikuti oleh artikel “a”, “an” atau one .
Example

2. There is one set of cleaning tools in the kitchen
3. There is an apple inside the box

kalimat negatif, tinggal menambahkan kata “not” setelah “is”. Example:


1. There is not a big tree in the backyard
2. There is not one set of cleaning tools in the kitchen

kalimat interogatif, kata “is” akan dipindahkan ke depan kalimat. Example:
1. Is there a big tree in the backyard?
2. Is there one set of cleaning tools in the kitchen?
Menggunakan “there are”
“there are” berarti ada. Dalam penggunaannya, “there are” selalu diikuti oleh plural
noun atau kata benda jamak. Noun yang berbentuk plural adalah noun yang jumlahnya
lebih dari satu.
Noun yang bersifat jamak umumnya akan diikuti oleh akhiran -s atau -es sehingga
sering juga disebut sebagai noun+s/es.
example: plural noun seperti: books, pencils, cars, axes, matches.
Tetapi, ada juga noun yang berbentuk plural tanpa ditambahkan akhiran –s atau -es.
Atau irregular naoun seperti: oxen, deer, geese, mice, childre, men, women.

Describing household activities
When we talk about activities we do regularly, we use the present simple.
• I clean my house everyday.
• You make the bed every morning.
• We do the laundry twice a day.
• They tidy up the room every afternoon.
Add -s or -es after the verb for he, she, and it.
• She cleans the windows.
• He irons the clothes.
• Sinta mops the loor.
• Galang washes the dishes every other day.
For the negative, use don’t for I, you, we, and they. Use doesn’t for he, she, and it.
• I make the bed every morning. I don’t dust the furniture on Wednesday.
• Galang takes out the trash every afternoon. He doesn’t water the plants every day.
For the present simple questions, use do for I, you, we, and they and does for he, she,
and it.

• Does Ara put away her toys after playing with them? Yes, she does
