Note :

News item text adalah teks yang berfungsi untuk menyampaikan kejadian setiap
harinya. Biasanya kejadian yang dituliskan adalah kejadian-kejadian yang bersifat
penting/perlu diberitakan dan terbaru.
Ciri-ciri dari news item text:
 Menggunakan action verbs atau dynamic verbs (kata kerja yang menunjukkan
aktifitas).
 Dominan menggunakan saying verbs.
 Menggunakan adverb of place, adverb of time, dan adverb of manner.

Struktur teks atau generic structure dari news item text adalah

 Main events (headline, summary of the news)


Kejadian utama yang pantas dijadikan berita. Di dalam paragraf pertama akan
terdapat newsworthy event di mana paragraf ini memperkenalkan latar belakang
terjadinya sesuatu serta di mana sesuatu tersebut terjadi.
 Elaboration/background of the event
Merupakan kilasan tentang kejadian yang diangkat dan situasi yang biasanya
menjadi ide pendukung dari kejadian inti. Ide pendukung ini dikemas di dalam
paragraf setelah newsworthy event yang biasa dikenal
dengan elaboration. Elaboration sendiri juga bisa berupa penyebab-penyebab
dari main events. Penjelasan mengenai main events dibahas termasuk waktu,
pelaku, kejadiannya, dll.

Berupa nara sumber berita yang valid yaitu sesuatu yang mutlak diperlukan baik
berupa pelaku kejadian, media cetak, ahli, catatan para ahli maupun riset yang
dilakukan para ahli.

Observe the following example

An Indonesian domestic worker has claimed that she lost her kidney without
her knowledge while she worked in Doha, Qatar, three years ago.
DOHA – Sri Rabitah, 25, told the Indonesian press on Monday that she only realized
what had happened before when she returned to her home and went to hospital
complaining of constant back pain.
To her surprised, doctors told the young mother that one of her kidneys was missing.
Muhammad Iqbal, a foreign ministry official, said that her case was a “clear indication”
of organ trafficking and called for an urgent investigation soon.
Her employers allegedly told her to go for a medical check-up at a hospital, during
which she was placed under anaesthesia with no explanation.
“Without permission, I got an injection. The doctor said I was so weak, so I was told to
relax,” Sri told the Detik news site.
Sri said that she remembered being taken to a room containing medical tools before
waking up in pain with an inexplicable incision scar.
She claims that she was never given an explanation about what happened in the room
at that time, and was sent back home as her employers deemed her unfit to work.
Sri has said that she wants to fight back. “I want the government to sue the
perpetrator. My kidney was stolen,” she said.

pengantar dan kalimat inti
