VOICE
 DEFINisi
Passive voice adalah salah satu struktur kalimat dimana objek dari
kegiatan diubah menjadi subjek kalimat, sedangkan pelaku kegiatan
biasanya disebutkan di akhir kalimat. Dengan kata lain, passive voice
menempatkan Objek sebagai subjek, dan subjek sebagai objek
 Pola passive voice
Passive voice memiliki pola-pola berbeda berdasarkan tenses yang
digunakan pada kalimat tersebut. Jadi, tiap tenses punya pola kalimat
masing-masing
- Active Voice = Subject + Verb 1 (s/es) + Object
- Passive Voice = Object + to be (is, am, are) + Verb 3 (-
d,-ed) + by + Subject

Contoh kalimat:
Active Voice = Janu fixes the CNC Machine
Passive Voice = The CNC Machine is fixed by Janu

Pada bentuk kalimat aktif, posisi Janu sebagai subject

berada di awal kalimat. Tapi Ketika diubah ke bentuk
passive voice, posisi Janu sebagai subject berada di
akhir kalimat. Perhatikan, to be yang dipakai harus
mengikuti kaidah pasangan pronoun dan to be
Another example:
- She changes the CNC machine’s position (active voice)
- The CNC machine’s position is changed by her (Passive
Voice)

Perhatikan kata ganti subject pada active voice dan

passive voice. Pada bentuk active voice, subject adalah
“she”, namun saat diganti menjadi bentuk passive
voice, subject berubah menjadi her. Begitu juga dengan
kata ganti/pronoun yang lain akan diubah dan berbeda
saat digunakan di active voice dan passive voice

Singular subject (subjek Tunggal) Is
Plural subject (subjek jamak) Are

Tips:
Cara mengidentifikasi subjek dan/atau objek jamak atau Tunggal adalah dengan melihat
akhiran subjek/objek apakah diakhiri dengan huruf “s/es”. Jika diakhiri dengan huruf “s/es”
maka dipastikan itu adalah subjek jamak
