What is relative pronoun?

• A relative pronoun is used to refer to nouns

 mentioned previously, whether they are
people, places, things, animals, or ideas.
Relative pronouns can be used to join two
sentences.
• Who, Whose, Whom,Which

• Simon adalah siswa. Simon adalah siswa yang suka membolos

• Simon adalah siswa yang suka membolos
 WHO
• Who, digunakan untuk pengganti orang sebagai subjek.
Contoh :

• -Jane is the woman. Jane is going to China next year.

(Jane adalah wanita. Jane akan pergi ke Cina tahun depan) .
• -Jane is the woman who is going to China next year.
(Jane adalah wanita yang akan pergi ke Cina tahun depan).

• -Susi teaches Biology in Senior High School. She is twenty four years old.
(Susi mengajar Biologi di SMP. Dia berumur 24 tahun).
• -Susi who is twenty four years old teaches Biology in Senior High School).
(Susi yang umurnya 24 tahun mengajar Biologi di SMP).

• -The man is my uncle. The man helped you yesterday.

(Laki-laki itu paman saya. Laki-laki itu membantu kamu kemarin).
• -The man who helped you yesterday is my uncle.
(Laki-laki yang membantu kamu kemarin adalah paman saya).
 Whom
• 2.Whom, untuk pengganti orang sebagai objek.
Contoh :
 
• -I don’t know the man. You met him last night.
(Aku tidak tahu laki-laki itu. Kamu bertemu dengannya tadi malam).
• -I don’t know the man whom you met last night.
(Aku tidak tahu laki-laki itu yang kamu temui tadi malam).

• -John is the man. We are going to recommend John for the job.
(John adalah laki-laki. Kita akan merekomendasikan John untuk bekerja).
• -John is the man whom we are going to recommend for the job.
(John adalah laki-laki yang akan kita rekomendasikan untuk bekerja).
 
• -The girl is on the plane. They want her.
(Perempuan berada di pesawar. Mereka mengingkannya).
• -The girl whom they want is on the plane.
(Perempuan yang mereka ingikan sedang di pesawat).
 Whose
• 3.Whose, digunakan untuk orang yang memiliki atau sebagai pengganti milik.
Contoh:
 
• -The girl is Zizi. Her hair is long.
(Gadis itu Zizi. Rambutnya panjang).
• -The girl whose hair is long is Zizi.
(Gadis yang rambutnya panjang adalah Zizi).
 
• -John found a cat. The cat’s leg was broken.
(John menemukan seekor kucing. Tangan kucingnya patah).
• -John found a cat whose leg was broken.
(John menemukan seekor kucing yang tangannya patah)

• -She is my neighbour. Her child is in hospital now.
(Wanita itu tetangga saya. Anaknya sedang di rumah sakit sekarang).
• -She whose child is in hospital now is my neighbour.
(Wanita yang anaknya sedang di rumah sakit sekarang adalah tetangga saya)

• 4.Which, digunakan untuk benda sebagai subjek.
Contoh:

• -Felipe bought a camera. The camera has three lenses.

Felipe membeli kamera. Kamera mempunyai tiga lensa).
• -Felipe bought a camera which has three lenses.
(Felipe membeli kamera yang mempunyai tiga lensa).

• -The bag is full of money. I found the bag on the bus this morning.
(Tas itu penuh dengan uang. Aku menemukan tas itu di dalam bis pagi ini).
• -The bag which I found on the bus this morning is full of money.
(Tas yang aku temukan di dalam bis pagi ini penuh dengan uang).
 
• -My house has a lovely garden. I bought it last month.
(Rumahku mempunyai kebun yang indah. Aku membelinya bulan lalu).
• -My house which I bought last month has a lovely garden.
(Rumahku yang aku beli bulan lalu mempunyai kebun yang indah).
 
 Examples
• Spaghetti, which many of us enjoy, can be messy.
• She wrote to the person whom she had met last
month.
• We didn’t bring the receipt, which was a big mistake.
• I have a friend whose cat is annoying.
• People who are clever can always find a way.
• Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died.
• The cyclist who won the race trained hard.

my family’s favorite meals.
