 E. Struktur Batang Tumbuhan
Epidermis
Epidermis adalah bagian batang yang tersusun
dari selapis sel yang tersusun rapat tanpa ruang
antarsel dan berkutikula. Sel-sel penyusun
jaringan epidermis selalu aktif membelah untuk
mengimbangi pertumbuhan batang. Fungsi utama
epidermis yaitu sebagai lapisan pelindung dari
kekeringan.
• Endodermis
• Endodermis adalah lapisan korteks yang paling
dalam dan berbatasan dengan silinder pusat.
Lapisan ini memiliki sel-sel yang bentuk dan susunan
yang khas. Lapisan sel yang menjadi batas antara
korteks dan silinder pusat pada akar umumnya
dinamakan endodermis, tetapi lapisan serupa yang
terdapat pada batang, banyak mengandung butir-
butir zat tepung. sebab itu, endodermis batang juga
disebut dengan sarung tepung (floeoterma).
