 Profil Daerah
Kabupaten Maros adalah salah satu Daerah Tingkat II di Provinsi Sulawesi
Selatan, Indonesia. Jauh dari sebelumnya Kabupaten Maros adalah salah satu
bekas daerah kerajaan di Sulawesi Selatan. Di daerah ini pernah berdiri
Kerajaan Marusu' dengan raja pertama bergelar Karaeng Loe Ri Pakere.
Maros memperoleh status sebagai kabupaten pada tanggal 4 Juli 1959
berdasarkan UU No. 29 Tahun 1959. Pada tanggal tersebut juga ditetapkan
sebagai hari jadi Kabupaten Maros berdasarkan Peraturan Daerah Kabupaten
Maros Nomor 3 Tahun 2012. Ibu kota kabupaten ini terletak di Kota Turikale.
Kabupaten ini memiliki luas wilayah 1.619,12 km² dan berpenduduk
sebanyak 353.121 jiwa dengan tingkat kepadatan penduduk sebesar 218,09
jiwa/km². Dilihat dari lokasi geografi dan topografinya, dari 103
desa/kelurahan yang ada di kabupaten Maros, 10 desa berada pada wilayah
pantai, 5 desa berada pada wilayah lembah, 28 desa berada pada wilayah
perbukitan, dan sisanya 60 desa/kelurahan berada pada wilayah
dataran/landai.
 Komoditas Unggulan Kab. Maros

Salah satu komoditas unggulan dari kab.maros adalah ikan bandeng cabut
duri, maros merupakan salah satu daerah yang memproduksi ikan bandeng
cabut duri terbesar di Indonesia. Kabupaten Maros Provinsi Sulawesi
Selatan merupakan salah satu kabupaten di wilayah Sulawesi Selatan yang
menjadi sentra pengembangan usaha perikanan. Kabupaten Maros sebagai
daerah pesisir pantai dan laut memiliki potensi pengembangan perikanan
darat dan laut yang cukup besar terkhusus di Kecamatan Maros Baru. Ikan
bandeng cabut duri dapat diolah menjadi beberapa jenis makanan yaitu,
abon ikan, otak-otak, ikan asin, dll. Olahan dari ikan bandeng cabut duri
merupakan salah satu usaha umkm yang terbanyak di kabupaten maros dan
tentunya dapat membuka peluang kerja maupun peluang usaha untuk
masyarakat setempat.
 Peluang Usaha dari Komoditas
Unggulan

Peluang usaha ikan bandeng cabut duri memang bisa dibilang sangat
memuaskan. Dimana maros merupakan salah satu pengembangan
komoditas daerah yang memproduksi ikan bandeng cabut duri terbesar di
Indonesia. Usaha bandeng cabut duri ini bukan usaha yang baru di
kabupaten maros, tetapi potensi usaha bandeng cabut duri ini
menjanjikan dan memilki omzet yang lebih banyak dibandingkan usaha
lainnya. Salah satu contoh pemilik usaha bandeng cabut di maros telah
memiliki langganan tetap dengan produksi bandeng cabut duri 300 ekor
per hari, dia juga sudah melayani pelanggan bandeng cabut duri dari luar
daerah hingga luar negeri. Adapun beberapa olahan dari ikan bandeng
cabut duri yang dapat dijadikan peluang usaha yaitu makanan yang dapat
dikonsumsi seperti Abon Ikan, Otak-otak, Ikan Kering. Masyarakat
setempat bisa menjadikan ini sebuah peluang usaha karena selain
menjanjikan jenis makanan ini memiliki banyak peminat
