Acute Toxicity of Anti-Hipertensive Herb Imperata cylindrica, Gynura procumbens and
Syzygium polyanthum, In-Vivo Study on Behavioral Changes of Danio rerio. Supervisor 1:
Noer Aini, Supervisor 2: Yoyon Arif Martino.
The roots of weeds (Imperata cylindrica), Sambungnyowo leaves (Gynura procumbens) and
bay leaf (Syzigium polyanthum) - ASS used as antihypertensive. One indicator of acute
toxicity test is behavioral changes as effects on the sympathetic nerve of the substances
contained in the herb. Alterations of fish behavioral responses are sensitive indicator to assess
acute toxicity of ASS. In this study, a various concentrations of exposure test were conducted
to investigate behavioral changes of adult zebra fish (Danio rerio) exposed to ASS in three
concentrations of 233 mg / L (effective dose) , 319.32 mg / L (MATC), and 6384.2 mg / L
(LC50-96h) for one hour. Analysis of the data using One Way ANOVA and Tukey HSD with
significance p <0.05. Swimming speed of Zebrafish were not increased significantly at both
concentration ASS of 233mg / L and MATC dose 319.32 mg / L however, decreased
significantly at LC50 96-hour dosing 6384.2 mg / L. Acute toxicity of ASS as antihypertension
was determined at concentration of LC50 dose.
