"PULAU NUSA LAUT

PULAU AMBALAU"

Menurut cerita tua-tua adat bahwa Pulau Nusalaut itu dulu sangat besar dan di pulau
tersebut hidup dua orang bersaudara tapi beda kepercayaan, yang kakak beragama kristen,
sedangkan adiknya beragama islam yang merupakan saudara kandung, satu bapak tapi beda
ibu.
Awal mulanya mereka berdua hidup saling menyayangi, menghargai dan
menghormati walaupun beda agama. Mereka tidak pernah mempermasalahkan kepercayaan
yang mereka anut. Namun suatu ketika karena mau memperbutkan harta benda yang pada
akhirnya mereka berdua berkelahi dan saling bermusuhan yang disebabkan karena masalah
sepele yakni satu pohon sukun yang tumbuh di tengah pulau NUSA LAUT.
Akibat dari konlik itu, sewaktu malam mereka berdua bermimpi, terjadi suatu
peristiwa ajaib dan nyata yang Tuhan lakukan untuk mereka berdua. "Pulau NUSA LAUT
terbelah menjadi dua bagian, demikian pula dengan pohon Sukun yang jadi awal sengketa itu,
juga ikut terbelah menjadi dua bagian dari ujung sampai ke akar-akarnya, yang sebelah pohon
ikut dengan satu pulau yang kita kenal sampai hari ini dengan nama Pulau Ambalau
sedangkan sebelah pohon lagi tinggal bersama Pulau Nusalaut. Seperti yang diketahui bahwa
Pulau Ambalau di kabupaten Buru Selatan dengan penduduk yg mayoritas kepercayaannya
Islam, sedangkan Nusalaut di Kabupaten Maluku Tengah dengan penduduk yang mayoritas
(100%) kepercayaanya Kristen.
Nusalaut dan Ambalau merupakan dua negeri yang sampai sekarang masih terikat
tali persaudaraan yang ditandai dengan ikatan persekutuan pela saudara/pela adik-kakak.
Salah satu pela yang sangat mengikat umat Kristen dan Islam yaitu Pela: Ambalau-Nusa

Laut. Walaupun konflik kemanusiaan di Maluku yang pernah terjadi pada masa silam begitu
luas dan menghancurkan kerukunan antar umat beragama, namun tidak demikian dengan dua
negeri tersebut yang selalu menjaga keharmonisan dan kerukunan yang sudah terjaga sejak
dulu kala

Nusalaut and Ambalau are two countries that are still bound by kinship ties marked
