BAB I PENDAHULUAN

1.1 Latar belakang masalah

Kemampuan menulis merupakan salah satu hal yang sulit dilakukan


diantara kemampuan berbahasa (membaca) , berbicara dan
mendengarkan).Kebanyakan orang tidak suka menulis apalagi dengan murid.Tidak
semua siswa siap untuk menulis ide idenya ketika mereka diminta untuk menulis
dengan bahasa mereka.(river (1997), dalamni’mah dan pusparini,2014).

1.2 Pembatasan masalah

Selain narrative text, ada berbagai macam jenis text.Dalam hal ini penulis
hanya meng-khususkan pembahasan mengenai mempelajari narrative text.Hal itu
dilakukan agar pembahasan lebih mendalam.

1.3 Perumusan masalah

Dari latar belakang diatas, penulis ingin mengetahui:

1 . Apakah kegunaan narrative text?

2. Apakah ada pebedaan yang mencolok antara narrative text dengan text lainya?
1.4 Tujuan Penulisan

Penulisan karya ilmiah ini bertujuan untuk:

1. Mengetahui kegunaa narrative text.

2. Mengetahui perbedaan narrative text dengan text yang lain.

1.5 Metode pengumpulan data

Data yang dipakai dalam penulisan karya ilmiah ini dengan metode study

pustaka yaitu mencari data-data yang berkaitan dengan narrative text melalui buku

buku yang membahas tentang narrative text. Dan menjadikan sebagai data

pendukung atau landasan teori.

1.6 sistematika penulisan

Pembahasan penulisan narrative text dalam karya tulis ini disusun dengan

metode umum ke khusus (kualitatif). Adapun urut-urutan pembahasan sebagai

berikut: Bab 1 pendahuluan, dalam Bab ini dikemukakan latar belakang

masalah,pembatasan masalah, perumusan masalah, tujuan penulisan,metode

pengumpulan data dan sistematika penulisan. Bab 2 tentang pengertian narrative

text, struktur narrative text, ciri kebahsaan narrative text. Bab 3 bank soal.Bab 4

penutup.

BAB II NARRATIVE TEXT

2.1 Pengertian Narrative Text

Jika dilihat secara harfiah, narrative text bermakna,

1). Sebuah cerita baik terucap maupun tertulis tentang peristiwa-peristiwa yang

berhubungan.

2). Bagian yang diceritakan dalam sebuah karya sastra, berbeda dengan dialog.

3). Praktik seni atau seni bercerita.

Jika disimpulkan maka sebuah narrative text adalah text yang berisi sebuah

cerita baik tertulis maupun tidak tertulis dan terdapat rangkaian peristiwa yang

Menurut wikipedia narrative adalah: Salah satu jenis pengembangan

paragraf dalam sebuah tulisan yang rangkaian peristiwa dari waktu ke waktu

dijabarkan dengan urutan awal, tengah, dan akhir.

2.2 Struktur Narrative text

Struktur narrative text terdiri dari 3 bagian,yaitu:

1 . Orientation: Berisi pengenalan tokoh, tempat dan waktu terjadinya cerita

Example : Once upon a time, there was a wolf lived in the forest

2. Complication: Pemasalahan yang muncul atau mulai terjadi dan berkembang

Example: The giant come to timun mas house.

3. Resolution: Masalah selesai baik secara happy ending maupun sad ending.

Example: finally, the giant sinked into the river.

2.3 Tujuan Narrative Text

Tujuan dasar dari text narasi adalah untuk menghibur dan menarik minat

pembaca dengan menyajikan cerita atau peristiwa yang memiliki masalah yang

menimbulkan konflik dan pada akhir cerita ada resolusinya atau akhir yang bahagia

2.4 Ciri Kebahasaan Narrative Text

Ciri kebahasaan narrative text adalah sebagai berikut:

 Fokus pada satu tokoh atau pelaku dan biasanya individual sehingga biasanya

menggunakan kata ganti seperti “I, we, she, he”.

 Paling sering menggunakan past tense baik itu simple past tense, past continuous,

maupun bentuk past tense lainnya.

 Terkadang menggunakan dialog untuk mengajak pembaca berimajinasi sehingga

ceritanya terlihat lebih jelas dan nyata.

 Karena berurutan (kronologis), maka biasanya juga menggunakan kata sambung

(conjunction) agar cerita terlihat runtut atau urut.

2.5 Contoh Narrative Text

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl named Cinderella. He

lived with his step mother and two sisters. They were arrogant and bad tempered.

They treated Cinderella very badly. Her step mother made Cinderella do the hardest

job in the house, such as scrubbing the floor, cleaning the pot and pan and preparing

food for the family. Her step sisters, on the other hand, did not work on the house.

Their mother gave them many pretty dresses to wear.

One day, a king invited all girls in his kingdom to attend a ball in his palace.

They were excited about this and spent so much time choosing the dresses they

would wear. Cinderella could not stop crying after they left.

“Why are you crying, Cinderella?” the voice asked.

She looked up and saw a fairy standing beside her. Then Cinderella told her

why she was crying. Well the fairy said, “you’ve been such a cheerful, hardworking,

uncomplaining girl that I will see that you go to the ball.” The fairy turned a

pumpkin into a coach and mice into a smooth two coach man and footman then

tapped Cinderella’s dress with her wand, and it became a beautiful ball gown.

Then he gave her a pair of pretty glass shoes. Now, Cinderella, she said,

“you have to leave the ball before midnight”. Then he drove away a wonderful

coach. Cinderella had a marvelous time either. She danced again and again with the

prince. Suddenly the clock began to strike twelve, she ran toward the door as fast

as he could do. In her hurry, one of her glass shoes left behind.

A few days later, the prince declared that he would marry the girl whose feet

fitted the glass shoe. Cinderella’s stepsisters tried on it but it was too small for them,

no matter how hard they squeezed their toes into it. In the end, the king’s page let

Cinderella try the shoe. She stretched his legs and slipped the shoe on the page. It

fitted perfectly. Finally, she was ushered into a magnificent palace and height. The

prince were glad to see her again. They married and lived happily ever after.

BAB III SOAL DAN PEMBAHASAN

3.1 Soal

Once upon a time there was a girl name Cindrella. She lived with her bad
step-mother and two step-sisters. She had to do all the household chores.

One day the king invited all the ladies in the kingdom to go to a ball (pesta
dansa) in the palace. He wanted to find the Crown Prince a wife.

The step sisters went to the ball that night with their mother. Cindrella was
left alone. She cried because she actually wanted to go to the ball, too.

Just then a fairy godmother came. With her magic wand, she gave Cindrella
a coach (kereta), two horses and footmen. She also gave Cindrella a lovely dress to
wear the ball and a pair of glass slippers. She told Cindrella to come home before
midnight.

At the ball, Cindrella danced all night with the Prince. The Prince fell in
love with her. At midnight, Cindrella ran home. Unfortunately, one of her slippers
slipped off at the door. She did not have time to put it back on. The Prince was sad
as he could not find Cindrella again that night.

The next day, the Prince and his men brought along the glass slipper. They
went all over the Kingdom to search for the owner.

After searching for along time, finally, they came to Cindrella’s house. The
slipper fit her. The prince was very happy to find Cindrella again. They got married
and lived ever after.

The goat was thirsty so he got into the well. When he had drunk
enough, he looked around but there was no way to get out. Then the fox said, “I
have a good idea. You stand on your hind legs and put your forelegs against the
side of the well. Then I’ll climb on your back, from there. I’ll step on your horns,
and I can get out. And when I’m out, I’ll help you out of the well.”

The goat did as he was asked and the fox got on his back and climbed
out of the well. Then he coolly walked away. The goat called out loudly after him
and reminded him of his promise to help him out. The fox merely turn to him and
said, “if you only had thought carefully about getting out, you wouldn’t have
jumped into the well.”

The goat felt very sad. He called out loudly. An old man walking nearby
heard him and put a plank into the well. The goat out and thanked the old man.

Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled in Teberu Lombok, who had
a beautiful daughter called Puteri Mandalika. Because of her beauty, princes and
kings from other kingdom around Teberu wished that she would be their wife. Six
of them came to Teberu and ask for her hand of marriage. They were Prince
Bumbang, Prince Aryo Johor, Prince Singa Trasak, Prince Daria Loka, Prince
Gunung Piring and Prince Bungsu. Each prince wanted to win the hearth of Puteri
Mandalika.

Her father, the king of Teberu, was very confused and did not know what to
do. If he chose one prince instead of another then it would create jealousy and there
could be war against his kingdom. All the princes were handsome and powerful and
so the king allowed his daughter to make her own choice. But Puteri Mandalika was
confused too and she also knew the dangerous risk that her kingdom and people
would get, if she chose either one of the princes.

After several days of serious thinking, Puteri Mandalika met her parents and
asked her permission to announce her decision in front of all the princes and the
people of Teberu the next day in the beach. Early next morning, everybody gathered
on the beach. There was a gentle breeze with small waves breaking softly across
the shore. Everybody was looking at Puteri Mandalika, waiting for her
announcement.

Meanwhile, the six princes prayed in their heart that he would be the chosen
one. Then in a loud and clear voice, Puteri Mandalika Said, ”Oh my beloved mother
and father, all the princes and especially the people of Teberu Kingdom. Today I
would like to announce that I will not give myself to any one of the princes, but
rather to all people of Teberu and my own kingdom.” Then Puteri Mandalika threw
herself into the sea from the top of a hill and disappeared. Everybody desperately
search for her but she could not be found and people believed she was transformed
into flowing sea worms called “nyale”. .

Once when a lion was asleep, a little mouse began running up and down
upon him; this soon awoke the lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and open

of these days.”

The lion was so tickled at the idea of the mouse being able to help him.
Then, he lifted up his paw and let him go.

Sometime after, the lion was caught in a trap. Some hunters, who wanted to
carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon
to carry him in. Just then, the little mouse happened to pass by and see the sad plight
in which the lion was. The little mouse went up to him and soon gnawed away the
ropes that bounded the king of the beasts. Soon after the little mouse had finished
gnawing away the ropes, he asked the lion to run away.

Snow White said, “My name is Snow White.”

Then, Snow White told the dwarfs the whole story.

The dwarfs said, “If you want, you may live here with us.”

Snow White answered, “Oh, could I? Thank you.”

Finally, Snow White and the seven dwarfs lived happily ever after.

Story of Rabbit and Bear

Once upon a time, there lived as neighbours, a bear and a rabbit. The rabbit

is a good shot. In contrary, the bear is always clumsy and could not use the arrow

to good advantage.

One day, the bear called over the rabbit and asked the rabbit to take his bow

and arrows and came with bear to the other side of the hill. The rabbit was feared

to arouse the bear's anger so he could not refuse it. He consented and went with the

bear and shot enough buffalo to satisfy the hungry family. Indeed he shot and killed

so many that there was lots of meat left after the bear and his family had loaded

themselves and packed all they could carry home.

The bear was very gluttonous and did not want the rabbit to get any of the

meat. The rabbit could not even taste the blood from the butchering as the bear

would throw earth on the blood and dry it up. The poor rabbit would have to go

home hungry after his hard day's work.

The bear was the father of five children. The youngest child was very kind

to the rabbit. He was very hearty eater. The mother bear always gave him an extra

large piece of meat but the youngest child did not eat it. He would take it outside

with him and pretended to play ball with the meat. He kicked toward the rabbit's

house and when he got close to the door he would give the meat with such a great

kick. The meat would fly into the rabbit's house. In this way, the poor rabbit would

get his meal unknown to the papa bear.

Suddenly, a woodcutter came; he saw a large wolf’s belly and knew what had been

done by the wolf. Then he saved them by releasing them out from the belly of the

wolf and filled the wolf’s stomach with a big stone. Then he threw the wolf into the

river.

The Story of the Smart Parrot

A man in Puerto Rico had a wonderful parrot. There was no another parrot

like it.

It was very, very smart. This parrot would say any word-except one. He would not

say the name of the town where he was born. The name of the town was Catano.

The man tried to teach the parrot to say Catano. But the bird would not say the

word. At first the man was very nice, but then he got angry. “You are a stupid bird!

Why can’t you say the word? Sat Catano, or I will kill you!” but the parrot would

not say it. Then the man got to so angry that the shouted over and over, “Say Catano,

or I’ll kill you!” but the bird would not talk.

One day after trying for many hours to make the bird say Catano, the man

got very angry. He picked up the bird and threw him into the chicken house. “You

are more stupid than the chickens. Soon I will eat them, and I will eat you, too.”

In the chicken house there are four old chickens. They were for Sunday’s dinner.

The man put the parrot in the chicken house and left.

The next day the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door

and stopped. He was very surprised at what he saw!

He saw three dead chickens on the floor. The parrot was screaming at the fourth

chicken, “Say Catano, or I’ll kill you!

The Legend of Rawa Pening

Once upon a time, there was a little poor boy came into a little village. He

was very hungry and weak. He knocked at every door and asked for some food, but

nobody cared about him. Nobody wanted to help the little boy.

Finally, a generous woman helped him. She gave him shelter and a meal.

When the boy wanted to leave, this old woman gave him a “lesung”, a big wooden

mortar for pounding rice. She reminded him, “please remember, if there is a flood

you must save yourself.

Use this “lesung” as a boat”. The “lesung” was happy and thanked the old

woman.The little boy continued his journey. While he was passing through the

village, he saw many people gathering on the field. The boy came closer and saw a

stick stuck in the ground. People challenged each other to pull out that stick.

Everybody tried, but nobody succeeded. “Can I try?” asked the little boy. The crowd

laughed mockingly. The boy wanted to try his luck so he stepped forward and pulled

out the stick. He could do it very easily. Everybody was dumbfounded.

Suddenly, from the hole left by stick, water spouted out. It did not stop until

it flooded the village. And no one was saved from the water except the little boy

and the generous old woman who gave him shelter and meal. As she told him, he

used the “lesung” as a boat and picked up the old woman. The whole village became

a huge lake. It is now known as Rawa Pening Lake in Salatiga, Central Java,

Indonesia.

Kbo Iwo. The people of Bali used to say that Kbo Iwo was everything, a destroyer

as well as a creator. He was satisfied with the meal, but this meant for the Balinese

people enough food for a thousand men.

Difficulties arose when for the first time the barns were almost empty and

the new harvest was still a long way off. This made Kbo Iwo wild with great anger.

In his hunger, he destroyed all the houses and even all the temples. It made the

Balinese turn to rage.

So, they came together to plan steps to oppose this powerful giant by using

his stupidity. They asked Kbo Iwo to build them a very deep well, and rebuild all

the houses and temples he had destroyed. After they fed Kbo Iwo, he began to dig

a deep hole.

One day he had eaten too much, he fell asleep in the hole. The oldest man

in the village gave a sign, and the villagers began to throw the limestone they had

collected before into the hole. The limestone made the water inside the hole boiling

. Kbo Iwo was buried alive. Then the water in the well rose higher and higher until

at last it overflowed and formed Lake Batur. The mound of earth dug from the well

by Kbo Iwo is known as Mount Batur.

Long, long ago, when the gods and goddesses used to mingle in the affairs of

mortals, there was a small kingdom on the slope of Mount Wayang in West Java.

The King, named Sang Prabu, was a wise man. He had an only daughter, called

Princess Teja Nirmala, who was famous for her beauty but she was not married.

One day Sang Prabu made up his mind to settle the matter by a show of strength.

After that, Prince of Blambangan, named Raden Begawan had won the

competition. Unfortunately, the wicked fairy, Princess Segara fell in love with

Raden Begawan and used magic power to render him unconscious and he forgot

his wedding. When Sang Prabu was searching, Raden Begawan saw him and soon

realized that he had been enchanted by the wicked fairy. The fairy could not accept

this, so she killed Raden Begawan. When Princess Teja Nirmala heard this, she was

very sad. So a nice fairy took her to the Kahyangan.

Pembelajaran tentang materi narrative text seharusnya semakin ditambah

agar mempermudah murid untuk memahami berbagai macam jenis text,

khususnya narrative text
