Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa
melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Inside Outside Circle (IOC), (2) proses
peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe IOC,
dan (3) tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe IOC. Jenis penelitian
ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah
siswa kelas X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja sebanyak 33 orang siswa pada semester genap Tahun
Ajaran 2017/2018. Pengumpulan data pemahaman konsep matematika siswa pada penelitian ini
menggunakan tes uraian, dan tanggapan siswa dikumpulkan menggunakan angket. Data yang telah
terkumpul selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan
optimal terjadi pada siklus III dengan rata-rata skor 81,54, daya serap 81,54%, dan ketuntasan belajar
81,82%. Peningkatan optimal pada siklus III terjadi karena (1) membagi siswa menjadi dua kelompok
yaitu kelompok lingkaran besar dan lingkaran kecil sehingga siswa dapat berbagi informasi dengan
pasangan semula maupun pasangan barunya, (2) guru melakukan kegiatan tanya jawab sehingga siswa
dapat memberikan alasan atas jawaban yang disampaikan, (3) guru memberikan penjelasan kembali
terkait konsep yang belum dipahami oleh siswa. Proses peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematika
siswa dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe IOC yaitu dengan melaksanakan proses pembelajaran
dengan baik dengan memperhatikan kegiatan pembuka, inti dan penutup pelajaran, memperhatikan
kendala-kendala yang dihadapi dan mencari solusi dari kendala tersebut sehingga terjadi peningkatan
proses pembelajaran pada siklus berikutnya. Selain itu tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan model
pembelajaran kooperatif tipe IOC ditinjau dari rata-rata skor tanggapan siswa sebesar 57,24 berada
dalam kategori sangat positif.

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study: (1) improvement of mathematical concepts understanding of
students through the implementation of cooperative learning model type IOC, (2) Process of improving
students mathematical concepts understanding with cooperative learning model type IOC, and (3)
students responses to the application of cooperative learning model type IOC. This type of research is a
classroom action research conducted in three cycles. The subjects of this study are 33 students of Class
X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja the second semester of the academic year 2017/2018. The data of
students mathematical concept in this study were collected using essay test, and the students responses
were collected using questionnaires. The data collected was then analyzed descriptively. The result of
the study showed that optimal improvement was occured in cycle III with average score reached 1,54,
absorption rate 81,54%, and learning completeness 81,82%. The optimal improvement in cycle III
happened as a result of (1) dividing the students into two groups, namely the big circle group and the
small circle so that the students could share the information with their original partner or new partner, (2)
the teacher conducted question and answer activities so that the students could give reasons for the
answer presented, (3) teacher provided re-explanation to the related concept that had not been
understood by students. The process of improving students understanding of mathematical concept with
IOC type cooperative learning model is to implement the learning process well by observing the opening,
core, and closing activities, and taking into account the constraints faced and finding solutionto these
obstacles. In addition, students responses to yhe application of cooperative learning model type IOC
reviewed from average score of students responses of 57,24 are categorized as very positive category.
