Judul Penelitian Surver : Survey Research about An Analysis of the reading comprehention in
descriptive text of the seventh grade students of mts negeri gembor pati taught by using circ.

Tujuan
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1.Mengetahui pemahaman membaca teks deskripsi peserta
didik kelas 7 mts negeri gembong pati tahun ajaran 2011/2012 sebelum menggunakan metode circ,
2. Mengetahui pemahaman membaca teks deskripsi peserta didik kelas 7 mts negeri gembong pati
tahun ajaran 2011/2012 sesudah menggunakan metode circ, 3. Mengetahui perbedaan pemahaman
membaca teks deskripsi peserta didik kelas 7 mts negeri gembong pati tahun ajaran 2011/2012
anatara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode Circ. Sampel dari penelitian ini yaitu keseluruan
kelas 7 sebanyak 147 peserta didik. Jenis penelitian yang di gunakan yaitu one grup pretest posttest.
Instrument yang di pakai yaitu penulis menggunakan cluster random sampling untuk menentukan
sampel penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian yaitu nilai rata-rata post-test peserta didik sebesar 87,67 dan
termasuk katagori “istimewah” .ini lebih besar nilai prest-test mereka 72 yang termasuk dalam
katagori “baik” ,sehingga asumsi penelitian di terima. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa
selama pelaksanaan penelitian,kebanyakkan peserta didik memperoleh nilai baik dan mereka mampu
mengerjakan dengan lebih baik. Hal ini merupakan salah satu kelebihan penggunaan kelompok
dalam melaksanakan skill membaca.

Key words: reading comprehension, descriptive text and CIRC method

Teaching English as the first foreign language is much needed in every levels
of education especially in Indonesia. The aim is to develop spoken and written
communication capability which is reflected in listening, speaking, reading, and
writing. The four basic language skills above are equally essential for students to
learn and it is emphasized on reading. They have many difficulties in reading English
text due to the different English features from their mother tongue, Indonesian.CIRC
method makes students more understand and be easy to comprehend reading text. It
also can improve the students’ motivation and help them to try move on one step
from other.
The objectives of this research proposal are (i) to find out the reading
comprehension in descriptive text of the seventh grade students of MTs
NegeriGembongPati in the academic year 2011/2012 before being taught byusing
CIRC method, (ii) to find out the reading comprehension in descriptive text of the
seventh grade students of MTs NegeriGembongPati in the academic year 2011/2012
after being taught by using CIRC method, (iii) to find out the significant difference
between the reading comprehension in descriptive text of the seventh grade students
of MTs NegeriGembongPati in the academic year 2011/2012 before and after being
taught by using CIRCmethod.
The writer did the research for the seventh grade students of MTs
NegeriGembongPati in the academic year 2011/2012.This research used the one
group pretest posttest design.There were 145 students. Here, the writer uses cluster
random sampling technique to determine the sample. Finally, the class for the
experimental group is VII B. Pre-test is given to the students in the experimental
groups. Then, they are taught descriptive texts by using CIRC method and then are
given a post-test
The mean of post-test is 87,67 and it is categorized as “Excellent”. It is higher
than the mean of pre-test which is 72 and categorized as “Good”. Thus, the
hypothesis research is accepted.The result shows that during the treatments, most of
the students have good scores and they can do the task better. It is one of the
advantages of using the group style in doing the reading task.
Based on the research result above, it is suggested to English teacher to
consider about using CIRC method in the elementary and the secondary level in
teaching reading.

Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing utama sangatlah diperlukan


di semua tingkat pendidikan Indonesia. Tujuannya adalah mengembangkan
kecakapan berkomunikasi lisan dan tulis dalam segi mendengarkan, berbicara,
membaca, dan menulis.Keempat kemampuan dasar tersebut sama pentingnya untuk
dipelajari peserta didik yang ditekankan dalam segi membaca. Tetapi mereka
kesulitan dalam membaca teks Bahasa Inggris karena berbedadengan Bahasa
Indonesia. Metode CIRC membantu peserta didik untuk lebih memahami dan
menguasai teks Bahasa Inggris. Metode tersebut juga dapat meningkatkan motivasi
dan membantu mereka dalam berkompetisi antar sesama.
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk (i) mengetahui pemahaman membaca teks
deskriptif peserta didik kelas 7 MTs Negeri Gembong Pati tahun ajaran 2011/2012
sebelum menggunakan metode CIRC, (ii) mengetahui pemahaman membaca teks
deskriptif peserta didik kelas 7 MTs Negeri Gembong Pati tahun ajaran 2011/2012
setelah menggunakan metode CIRC, (iii) mengetahui perbedaan pemahaman
membaca teks deskriptif peserta didik kelas 7 MTs Negeri Gembong Pati tahun
ajaran 2011/2012 antara sebelum dan setelah menggunakan metode CIRC.
Penulis melakukan penelitian bagi peserta didik kelas 7 MTs Negeri Gembong
Pati tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Penelitian ini berbentuk one group pretest posttest.
Jumlah keseluruhan kelas 7 sebanyak 145 peserta didik.Penulis menggunakan cluster
random sampling untuk menentukan sampel penelitiannya. Akhirnya terpilihlah
kelas VII B sebagai grup eksperimen .Pre-test diujikan bagi pesertadidikdalam grup
eksperimen.Kemudian mereka diajarkan teks deskriptif menggunakan metode CIRC,
lalu diujikan post-test.
Nilai rata-rata post-test peserta didik sebesar 87, 67 dan termasuk kategori
“Istimewa”. Ini lebih besar dibandingkan nilai pre-test mereka 72 yang termasuk
dalam kategori “Baik”. Sehingga asumsi penelitian ini diterima. Hasil penelitian
juga menunjukkan bahwa selama pelaksanaan penelitian, kebanyakan peserta didik
memperoleh nilai baik dan mereka mampu mengerjakan dengan lebih baik.Hal ini
merupakan salah satu kelebihan penggunaan kelompok dalam melaksanakan skill
membaca.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas, penulis memberi masukan kepada para
guru BahasaInggris agar mempertimbangkan untuk menggunakan metode CIRC
untuk mengajarkan skill membaca bagi tingkat pendidikan dasar dan menengah
pertama.
