A. DEFENITION
Recount text is a text which retells events or experiences in the past. Its purpose is either
to inform or to entertain the readers. Recounts explores the series of events which
happened to participants. These events are the main element in composing
recount text. However, it just focuses on the events themselves. It does not incude the
conflict inside. Recount text emphazises in detail information of the events. It reveals
the series of events in chronological order based on time or place.
B. GENERIC STRUCTURE
1.Orientation:
This part tells the readers the main idea of the story being discussed in the text.
This part also gives a setting of the story, so that readers are awake of the story
is about.
2. Event (s) :
In this part, the story starts froms the very early stages. That is to say, the story develops
based on the sequence of the events.
3. Reorientation :
In this part, the writer summarizes the story and tells his/her impression of the
experience that what has been elaborated.
a. a recount text is a text that telling the reader about one story, action or activity. Its
goal is to entertaining or informing the reader.
b. Orientation tells who was involed, what happened, where the events took place, and
when it happened.

After the passengers arrived at their destination, they were quickly out
of the tube and went on to the escalator again. They walked away quickly
from the underground station and rushed to their offices. Through
Michael’s explanation, now I know about the routine in London on
weekdays. All people seemed very busy.

EVALUASI
On Friday morning we went to YogyaKraton. We spent about two hours there. We were
lucky because we were led by a smart and friendly guide. Then we continued our
journey to Borobudur. We arrived there at four p.m. At 5 p.m. we heard the
announcement that Borobodur gate would be closed. In the evening we left for Jakarta
by wisata bus.

Commuters in London
Last summer, I went to London. I stayed in my friend’s house for few days.
One day, my friend, Michael, and I took a walk in the centre of London. I
wanted to try a tube to reach a place in London. A tube is a subway or
underground railway. Michael told me that many people lived in the city and
worked in London. Commuters in London usually used the tube.
In the morning, Michael said, the commuters who wanted to travel by tube,
had to queue for tickets at the ticket counter. However, they could buy the
tickets in automatic ticket machines. Some people who regularly used the tube
preferred season tickets. It costs less than paying separately each time they
wanted to take the tube. After they have the ticket they show the ticket to the
collector at the burrier. The commuters then stepped on to the descending
escalator and in short time they were in the crowded platform waiting for the
tube come in. During rush hour there was a tube to the city every few minutes.
After the passengers arrived at their destination, they were quickly out of the

underground station and rushed to their offices. Through Michael’s explanation,

Last weekend I and my classmates went to the countryside to have a picnic. Before
leaving, we made some sandwiches for lunch. We left quite early to avoid the traffic jam.
After driving for two hours, we arrived at a very nice place. It was near a river with some
big trees around it. The driver parked the car under the tree. Seeing the clear an cool water
of the river, my friends and I decided to swim. After having lunch together, we went
around the area to enjoy the scenery. We saw some beautiful birds and butterflies.
After walking for about an hour, we decided to return to the car and go home.
Unfortunately, we cloud not start up the car. Finally after sometime, we cloud make the
car start up by pushing it. We were happy although we felt a bit tired when we got home.
