 Definisi
Sebuah keluarga adalah sebuah sistem sosial yang alami, dimana seseorang menyusun
aturan, peran, struktur kekuasaan, bentuk komunikasi, cara mendiskusikan pemecahan
masalah sehingga dapat melaksanakan berbagai kegiatan dengan lebih efektif.

Masalah gangguan jiwa merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan yang seringkali
memberikan dampak tidak hanya kepada keluarga tapi juga bagi masyarakat.
Permasalahan ini disebabkan oleh masalah social ekonomi, ketatnya persaingan hidup
dan masalah psikologis yang berasal dari keluarga. Keluarga merupakan sumber utama
konsep sehat sakit dan perilaku sehat dan berpengaruh besar terhadap kesehatan fisik
maupun mental anggotanya.

Terapi keluarga adalah cara baru untuk mengetahui permasalahan seseorang,

memahami perilaku, perkembangan simptom dan cara pemecahannya. Model terapi
yang diterapkan dalam keluarga antara lain Experiential/Humanistic, Bowenian,
Psikodinamika dan Behavioral.
