Definisi
Pada umumnya masalah transportasi tak seimbang adalah
dimana penawaran lebih besar dari pada permintaan atau
sebaliknya. Dalam kasus tak seimbang, metode solusi
transportasi membutuhkan sedikit modifikasi, yaitu
dengan menambah baris atau kolom "dummy" yang
fungsinya menyeimbangkan penawaran dan permintaan.
Contoh

Sebuah perusahaan pakaian memiliki tiga pabrik yaitu pabrik Denim,

Satin dan Sutra. Selanjutnya dari ketiga pabrik tersebut akan
mengirimkan pakaian ke tiga toko untuk memenuhi kebutuhan toko.
Dari pabrik-pabrik dapat memasok masing-masing secara berurutan
adalah dari pabrik Denim 40 pcs, pabrik Satin 80 pcs, dan pabrik Sutra
120 pcs. Sedangkan permintaan dari toko 1 sebanyak 50 pcs, toko 2
sebanyak 50 pcs, toko 2 sebanyak 80 pcs, dan toko 3 sebanyak 70 pcs.
Secara berurutan biaya angkut dari pabrik Denim ke toko 1, 2 dan 3
adalah 10,3,9, dari pabrik Satin ke toko 1,2, dan 3 adalah 9,8,5 serta dari
pabrik Sutra ke toko 1, 2 dan 3 adalah 15, 10, 12 dalam ribu rupiah.
Maka berapakah biaya minimum dengan memenuhi batas pasokan dan
kebutuhan

Total Persediaan = 40 + 80 + 120 = 240
Total Permintaan = 50 + 80 + 70 = 200
