Notifikasi produk-produk tersebut telah dibatalkan oleh Pengarah Kanan Perkhidmatan Farmasi berikutan pengesanan logam berat merkuri di dalam produk-produk tersebut. Logam merkuri adalah tidak dibenarkan dalam produk kosmetik kerana ianya boleh membawa kesan mudarat kepada pengguna. Logam merkuri boleh diserap melalui kulit apabila disapu secara luaran dan cenderung untuk berkumpul di dalam badan. Pendedahan terhadap merkuri secara berterusan boleh menyebabkan kerosakan pada otak, sistem saraf dan buah pinggang. Penggunaan produk yang mengandungi merkuri juga boleh menyebabkan ruam, iritasi dan perubahan lain pada kulit. Sesiapa yang mempunyai stok produk di atas dinasihatkan menghentikan penjualan/ pengedaran/ penggunaan produk tersebut dengan serta-merta. Penjual adalah diingatkan pemilikan produk-produk ini melanggar Peraturan-Peraturan Kawalan Dadah dan Kosmetik 1984. Individu yang melakukan kesalahan di bawah Peraturan-Peraturan ini boleh dikenakan hukuman denda tidak melebihi RM25,000 atau penjara tidak melebihi 3 tahun atau kedua-

duanya untuk kesalahan pertama dan denda tidak melebihi RM50,000 atau penjara tidak melebihi 5 tahun atau kedua-duanya untuk kesalahan-kesalahan berikutnya. Syarikat yang melakukan kesalahan boleh dikenakan denda sehingga RM50,000 untuk kesalahan pertama dan denda sehingga RM100,000 untuk kesalahan berikutnya. Pengguna adalah dinasihatkan untuk menghubungi Biro Pengawalan Farmaseutikal Kebangsaan, Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia di talian 03-78835532/5534/8495 atau emailkan kepada kosmetik@bpfk.gov.my jika mengalami sebarang kesan sampingan atau kesan buruk akibat daripada penggunaan produk-produk kosmetik.

The product notifications of the above cosmetics have been cancelled by the Director of Pharmaceutical Services following the detection of the heavy metal mercury. Mercury is prohibited in cosmetic products due to its potential hazard on human health. Mercury compounds are readily absorbed through the skin on topical application and tend to accumulate in the body. Direct and prolonged exposure to mercury can cause damage to the brain, nervous system and kidneys. Using products containing mercury can also result in skin rashes, irritation, and other changes to the skin. Anyone who is in possession of this product is advised to immediately cease selling/distributing/using it. Sellers are reminded that possession of this product is an offence under the Control Of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984. Any individual who commits an offence under these Regulations can be fined up to a maximum of RM25,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or both, and for a second or subsequent offence he shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both. A company found guilty can be fined up to RM50,000 for the first offence and fined up to a maximum of RM100,000 for a subsequent offence.

Consumers are advised to contact the National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau (NPCB) at 0378835532/5534/8495 or e-mail to kosmetik@bpfk.gov.my if they experience any allergic reactions or adverse events from use of cosmetic products.
