Flooding is a disaster which commonly happens in large and densely populated

cities. In Indonesia, the floods hit Jakarta very often and cause many victims

The process of natural flooding is preceded by rain which falls to the surface of the
earth. Then the rain water is absorbed by the ground surface and flows to the lower
place. Once that condition happens, evaporation and the water appear to the surface
of the land. Flooding can be disastrous for humans when floods happen in an area
that people live because the water carries along objects like houses, bridges, cars,
furniture and even people.

On the other hand, the process of non natural flooding is usually caused by bad
habits of humans who do not care about the environment, such as littering that can
make water flow clogged. This makes the water deposited in landfills which gradually
becomes more common. When water reservoirs can no longer hold water discharge,
the water then overflows out theland and cause flooding.

Banjir

Banjir adalah bencana yang sangat sering terjadi di kota-kota besar padat
penduduk. Di Indonesia, banjir sangat sering melanda kota Jakarta dan seringkali
menelan banyak korban.

Proses terjadinya banjir secara alamiah itu diawali dengan turunnya hujan yang jatuh
ke permukaan bumi. Kemudian air hujan tersebut masuk kepermukaan tanah dan
mengalir ketempat yang lebih rendah. Setelah itu terjadi penguapan dan air tersebut
keluar kepermukaan daratan. Banjir yang terjadi secara almiah dapat menjadi
bencana bagi manusia ketika banjir melanda tempat tinggal mereka karena air bah
menyeret benda-benda seperti rumah, jembatan, perabotan, dan bahkan manusia.

Di sisi lain, proses terjadinya banjir secara non alamiah biasanya disebabkan oleh
kebiasaan buruk manusia yang tidak perduli lingkungan seperti,membuang sampah
tidak pada tempatnya sehingga menyebabkan aliran air tersumbat. Hal tersebut
menyebabkan air tersebut tertampung di tempat pembuangan yang semakin lama
semakin banyak. Saat penampungan air tak mampu lagi menahan debit air, maka air
meluap keluar sehingga mengenai daratan dan menyebabkan banjir.

Nuclear Energy : Advantage Or Disadvantage

Nuclear energy is commonly offered as an alternative to overcome the crisis of energy. The
debate whether the use of nuclear energy is an appropriate choice or not, has not come to
an end. Some people agree with the utilization of it because of its benefits. Some others,
however, disagree because of its risks to the environment.

Those who agree with the operation of nuclear reactors usually argue that nuclear energy is
the only feasible choice to answer the ever increasing energy needs. In their opinion, the
other sources of energy: oil, coal, and liquid natural gas are not renewable and safe, while
nuclear energy can be sustainable when produced in a safe way.

However, people who disagree with the use of nuclear energy point out that the waste of
nuclear products can completely destroy the environment and human lives. A meltdown in
reactor, for example, usually results in the contamination of the surroundings soil and water.
Take for example, the blow up of the nuclear reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station
in Russia twenty years ago. The serious contamination imperiled people and the
environment severely.

It is obvious that nuclear energy should be avoided because it really endangers the
environment but what about a less polluted energy instead of nuclear energy. Is there any
alternative energy to overcome the crisis of energy? In my opinion, nuclear energy is the
best choice to overcome the crisis of energy. However, government should make sure that
nuclear reactors construction and maintains are safe.

Energi Nuklir : Kekurangan dan Kelebihan

Tenaga nuklir merupakan tenaga alternative yang diajukan untuk mengatasi krisis energy.
Perdebatan apakah pengguanaan tenaga nuklir itu merupakan pilihan tepat, tidak pernah
berakhir. Beberapa orang setuju dengan pemanfaatannya karena terdapat manfaatnya.
Sementara yang lain tidak setuju karena resikonya terhadap lingkungan.

Mereka yang setuju dengan pengoprasian nuklir reactor biasanya berpendapat bahwa
energi nulir merupakan satu-satunya pilihana nyata untuk menjawab peningkatan kebutuhan
energi. Menurut pendapat mereka, sumber energy lain seperti minyak, batu bara, gas cair
alami tidak dapat diperbaharui dan tidak aman, sementari itu tenaga nulir merupakan tenaga
yang bisa diperbaharui ketika diproduksi dengan aman.

Tetapi, orang-orang yang tidak setuju dengan penggunakan energi nuklir berpendapat
bahwa limbah dari produksi nuklir dapat bener-benar menghancurkan lingkungan dan
kehidupan manusia. Reaktor yang meleleha, contohnya, biasanya mengakibatkan
kontaminasi di tanah dan air di sekelilingnya. Ambil contoh reaktor nuklir yang meledeak di
Chernobyl Nucliear Power Station di Rusia 20 tahun yang lalu. Kontaminasi serius
mengakibatkan kerusakan yang serius pada lingkungan dan orang-orang disekitar.

Sudah jelas bahwa energi nulir harus dihidari karena itu sangat membahayakan lingkungan
tetapi tenaga yang tidak berpolusi mana yang selain energi nuklir. Apakah ada tenaga
alternatif lain untuk mengatasi krisi energi? Menurut pendapat saya, energi nuklir merupakan
pilihan terbaik untuk mengatasi krisi energi. Akan tetapi, pemerintah harus pastikan bahwa
pembangunan dan perawatan reaktor nuklir harus aman.
