Dalam proses penerapan sistem manajemen mutu ISO 9001:2008. Seorang wakil manajemen
(mangement representative) merupakan tokoh sentral yang akan menentukan berhasil atau
tidaknya penerapan sistem manajemen mutu di perusahaan Anda. Dengan tanpa mengabaikan
keterlibatan seluruh karyawan, seorang management representative dengan kebijaksanaan,
komitmen, dan ketegasan yang dimiliki mampu memberikan komando untuk seluruh level
organisasi untuk tetap fokus dan berkomitmen penuh dalam menjalankan sistem manajemen
mutu. Oleh karana itu, sangat penting bagi sebuah organisasi untuk menunjuk orang yang
tepat sebagai wakil manajemen.
Manajemen puncak harus menunjuk seorang anggota manajemen organisasi yang diluar
tanggung jawab lain, harus mempunyai tanggung jawab dan wewengang yang meliputi :
a) memastikan bahwa proses yang diperlukan untuk sistem manajemen mutu ditetapkan,
dilaksanakan dan dipelihara,
Catatan : Tanggung jawab wakil manajemen dapat meliputi hubungan dengan pihak
eksternal mengenai hal-hal yang berhubungan dengan SMM ( sistem manajemen mutu).
Dari klausul 5.5.2 ISO 9001 dapat diketahui bahwa seroang management representative
haruslah orang yang berasal dari internal perusahaan yang ada pada jabatan manajerial
(Kepala Bidang, Kepala Bagian, Manager, dsb) yang memiliki kewajiban memastikan
seluruh persyaratan ISO 9001 diterapkan.
Pada dasarnya, seorang MR bertanggung jawab atas pelaksanaan 6 prosedur wajib yang
meliputi prosedur pengendalian dokumen, prosedur pengendalian rekaman mutu, prosedur
pengendalian produk tidak sesuai, prosedur tindakan perbaikan, prosedur tindakan

2. Pengetahuan yang luas tentang operasi perusahaan dan sistem manajemen mutu
Management representative harus memahami proses bisnis organisasi secara menyeluruh. Ini
