FIKOM PR

Fakultas/Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi, Universitas Mercu Buana, didirikan pada tahun 1994. Fikom-
UMB memiliki satu program studi Ilmu Komunikasi. Pada awal pendirian, PS Ilmu Komunikasi memiliki
tiga bidang studi yaitu Jurnalistik, Hubungan Masyarakat dan Periklanan.

Sejak Tahun Akademik 1997/1998 status program studi (yang semula ditentukan oleh Direktorat
Pendidikan Tinggi dengan status berjenjang mulai terdaftar, diakui dan disamakan) kemudian diubah
dengan sistem akreditasi yang dilakukan oleh Badan Akreditasi Nasional (BAN-PT). maka BAN-PT
mengeluarkan Surat Keputusan Fakultas/Prodi Ilmu Komunikasi memperoleh akreditasi baru yaitu A,
melalui SK BAN No. 07932/AK-IX-S1-012/UMDILM/VII/ 2005.

Fakultas/Prodi Ilmu Komunikasi, berserta seluruh unit yang berada di lingkungan Universitas Mercu
Buana, sejak tahun 2005, telah melaksanakan sistem manajemen mutu ISO 9001:2000. Sistem ini sangat
memudahkan seluruh unit yang ada dalam melaksanakan wewenang, tugas serta tanggung jawab
masing-masing. Sistem Manajemen Mutu ini dijalankan untuk mencapai visi, misi serta tujuan lembaga.

Hubungan Masyrakat yang populer disebut dengan Public Relations (PR), mempelajari ilmu
dan keterampilan yang menyangkut usaha untuk menciptakan hubungan yang harmonis
antara badan / lembaga / organisasi dengan masyarakat melalui proses komunikasi timbal
balik yang menghasilkan reputasi positif perusahaan.

Sejalan dengan semakin tingginya kebutuhan pengelolaan reputasi organisasi dan merk,
serta persaingan antar organisasi, dibutuhkan praktisi Public Relations yang memiliki
ketajaman visi komunikasi yang strategis. Lulusan bidang studi ini dibekali kemampuan
menyusun, mengelola dan melindungi reputasi organisasi (reputation management) dan
teknik Public Relations yang ditujukan kepada stakeholder internal dan eksternal.
Faculty / Communication Studies Program, Mercu Buana University, was established in 1994. Fikom-
UMB has one Communication Studies program. At the beginning of its establishment, PS
Communication Studies had three fields of study namely Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising.

Since the Academic Year 1997/1998 the study program status (which was originally determined by the
Directorate of Higher Education with tiered status began to be registered, recognized and equated) was
then changed to the accreditation system carried out by the National Accreditation Board (BAN-PT).
then BAN-PT issues a Decree of the Faculty of Communication Science / Study Program obtaining a new
accreditation namely A, through Decree No. BAN. 07932 / AK-IX-S1-012 / UMDILM / VII / 2005.

Faculty / Study Program of Communication Science, along with all units within Mercu Buana University,
since 2005, have implemented an ISO 9001: 2000 quality management system. This system greatly
facilitates all existing units in carrying out the authority, duties and responsibilities of each. This Quality
Management System is implemented to achieve the vision, mission and goals of the institution.

Public Relations, popularly called Public Relations (PR), learn the knowledge and skills related to efforts
to create harmonious relationships between agencies / institutions / organizations and the community
through reciprocal communication processes that produce a positive reputation for the company.

In line with the increasing need for managing organizational and brand reputation, as well as
competition between organizations, Public Relations practitioners who have a sharp strategic vision of
communication are needed. Graduates of this field of study are equipped with the ability to compile,
manage and protect the reputation of the organization (reputation management) and Public Relations
techniques aimed at internal and external stakeholders
