ABSTRACT
Chronic renal failure with hemodialysis affects the physical condition of the patient.
Coupled with a change in routine of chronic renal failure patients with hemodialysis
also affects the patient's psychological condition. The impacts experienced by patients
both physically and psychologically in the form of reduced physical activity either at
work or socializing, feel the impression of an unpleasant body, and must control the
diet and fluid intake. Furthermore, the psychological conditions that occur in the patient
are a feeling of slump, embarrassment with his appearance, feelings of worthlessness,
feeling different, anxiety, even despair. Hence, the quality of life in patients with
chronic renal failure with hemodialysis decreased, whereas quality of life is an
important component in the treatment. Therefore, psychological intervention is needed
to help improve the quality of life in chronic renal failure patients with hemodialysis.
The intervention is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy or abbreviated as MBCT. The

quality of life in chronic renal failure patients with hemodialysis. Participants in this
study amounted to 3 people. This research is test effectiveness with a mixed method
using the concurrent embedded strategy in which the primary data of this study are
qualitative data and secondary data of this study are quantitative data. Qualitative data
were analyzed using thematic analysis, while quantitative data awere tested using
Wilcoxon signed ranks (non parametric) statistical calculations. The results of the
current study conclude that MBCT is effective in improving the quality of life in
patients with chronic renal failure by reducing negative thoughts and feelings and
