Conditional Sentences Type 1

Pola Kalimat:
If + subject + VI (Simple Present Tense) + Subject + will + VI (Simple Present tense)
Atau
If + subect + (be) present + adjective/noun + Subject + will be + adjective/noun
Example:
 If I study hard, I will pass the final examination.
 If Jimmy wakes up earlier, he not wil miss the morning class.
 If the weather is windy, we may not be able to go to the beach.
Keterangan:
Kalimat pengandaian (conditional sentece) tipe 1 digunakan untuk mengungkapkan
atau mengandaikan sesuatu yang belum terjadi pada waktu sekarang dan memiliki
kemungkinan besar untuk terjadi apabila syarat terpenuhi dan juga terjadi dalam waktu
dekat. Kalimat semacam ini menjelaskan untuk menyatakan suatu pola sebab dan akibat.
Catatan:
 Modal yang biasanya digunakan adalah will+V1
 If clause tidak hanya diletakkan di awal kalimat, bisa juga dibalik. Apabila if clause
diletakkan di belakang maka tidak perlu menggunakan tanda koma.
If I have the money, I will buy a new car. Atau,
I will buy a new car if I have the money.

Conditional Sentences Type 2

Pola Kalimat:
If + subject + V2/simple past tense + Subject + would + Vl/past future tense
atau
If + subject + were + adjective/noun + Subject + would be + adjective/noun
Example:
 If I had the time, I would go to the cinema
 Rahayu would buy a new book if she got rank in the class.
 If I were you, I would apply for that job.
Keterangan:
 Kalimat pengandaian (conditional sentence) tipe 2 merupakan kalimat yang
digunakan untuk mengungkapkan sesuatu yang tidak mungkin terjadi atau yang
 bertentangan dengan kenyataan pada waktu sekarang. Kalimat dengan tipe ini
biasanya digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu khayalan.
 Fakta: fakta yang diungkapkan oleh kalimat pengandaian tipe 2 adalah bahwa saat ini
apa yang diandaikan itu tidak terjadi.
Contoh:
Conditional sentences:
 If I had long time, I would visit your home.
 If she remembered my face, she could recognize me and say “hello”
Fact:
 I have not long time.
 She doesn’t remember my face.

Conditional Sentences Type 3

Pola Kalimat:
If + subject + had + V3/past perfects + subject + would have + V3/past perfect
atau
if + subject + had been + adjective/noun + subject + would have been + adjective/noun
Example:
 If he had found the right buyer, he would have sold the house.
 If she had caught the bus, she could have been on time.
 If l had worked hard, I would have got the promotion for CEO position.
Keterangan:
 Kalimat pengandaian (conditional sentence) tipe 3 adalah kalimat yang mengandaikan
sesuatu yang sudah terjadi dan tidak terjadi di masa lalu. Tipe kalimat ini biasanya
digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu penyesalan.
 Fakta yang diungkapkan dalam kalimat pengandaian ini adalah bahwa apa yang
diandaikan tidak pernah terjadi di masa lalu.

Conditional Sentences:
 If I had trained hard, I would have got good score in Kedinasan test.
 If I were working in Ubud, I would be living together with my friend.
Fact:
 I did not train. Therefore, I had bad score in Kedinasan test.
 I am not working in Ubud . I am not living together with my friend.a
