Announcement is a public statement containing information about an event that has


happened or is going to happen.
The purposes to announce, and give information about event to the reader or listener to
participate the event.
An announcement usually consist of:
- The title /type of event
- For whom
- Contents
- Contacts person/from whom

Usually we can find announcement at:


- Television
- Newspaper
- Magazine
- Radio
- Board

Apersepsi
 Mengucapkan salam dan menyakan kabar dengan ramah kepada siswa ketika memasuki ruang
kelas: Good morning, Everybody. How are you? (nilai yang ditanamkan: santun, peduli)
 Mengajak siswa berdoa bersama-sama sebelum memulai pelajaran: Before we begin our
lesson today, Let’s pray according our religion and believe. Let’s pray. God, we thank you for
your guiding us so far, so that we can be here to attend this lesson today. Bless us, so shat we
can understand what we discuss or learn today. Aameen. (nilai yang ditanamkan: religius)
 Mengecek kehadiran siswa: Well, before we start our lesson, I want to check your attendance
first. Who is absent today? (nilai yang ditanamkan: disiplin, rajin)

Motivasi
 Menumbuhkan rasa ingin tahu Mengaitkan materi/kompetensi yang akan dipelajari dengan
karakter: Memberikan stimulus berupa pertanyaan tentang announcement. Have you ever see
announcement? When do you usually find announcement? What kinds of announcement do
you find? Spoken or written announcement? Allright, let’s see this video (Menunjukan video
announcement dan bersama-sama siswa menyimpulkan isi video yang sudah ditayangkan)
 Setelah bersama-sama menonton video yang ditayangkan guru menjelaskan tujuan
pembelajaran yang akan dicapai. So, what do you think about the video?
Allright, “This plan for today’s lesson about spoken announcement. “By the end of the lesson
you will know how to express spoken announcement. Now, everyone Are you ready?

 Kegiatan Inti (60’)


 Curah pendapat (Brain storming) mengenai “announcement” dalam konteks yang berterima
dalam kehidupan sehari-hari “All right. Let’s get started. And Get your books and pencils out”
 Guru memberikan penjelasan tentang materi announcement yang terdapat dalam slide: “Let’s
see the slide”. Siswa menyimak dan mencatat penjelasan materi announcement yang
diterangkan dalam slide.
 Guru menanyakan apakah siswa sudah paham dengan materi yang sudah dijelaskan: “any
questions, dear?”
 Guru menyuruh salah satu siswa untuk menyampaikan ulang materi yang sudah dijelaskan
didepan kelas untuk mengecek pemahaman. If all of you have understood, I want you to present
the material that I have explained to you in front of class”, who would like to present? Hands
up! come forward please!
 Guru membagikan student’s worksheet kepada masing-masing siswa. “Please, share these
papers to your friends”
 Guru menunjukan video spoken graduation announcement, kemudian siswa dapat
memasangkan vocabulary tersebut dengan makna yang tepat didalam worksheet yang
disediakan. Let’s do activity 1 “Match the words in colum A with their correct meanings in
column B”
 Guru 3X menunjukan ulang video spoken graduation announcement, siswa dapat melengkapi
teks rumpang yang didengar dengan tepat. Next, let’s go to activity 2 “ In this section, listen
carefully to understand what the speaker says to complete the following text based on what you
hear”.
 Guru bersama-sama mengoreksi hasil spoken graduation announcement dari teks rumpang
yang sudah dilengkapi siswa.
 Guru menanyakan informasi yang terdapat dalam spoken graduation announcement, siswa
menyebutkan informasi yang didengar dengan menjawab pertanyaan dengan tepat. Next we

 Guru memberikan beberapa kalimat tentang announcement, kemudian siswa menirukan

 Guru memberikan situasi, siswa dapat menyampaikan announcement sesuai dengan situasi
yang ditentukan dan mempresentasikanya didepan kelas dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris
dengan benar. Over the next few lessons, we are going to make spoken announcement. Ok
students, take a look at activity 5 “Make up an announcements based on the following
situations, and then present it in front of the class”.
 Memberikan umpan balik pada siswa dengan memberi penguatan dalam bentuk lisan pada

MATERI PEMBELAJARAN

Spoof text
Spoof is a type of story which has a twist (funny part in the end of the story). It contains an
unpredictable event which makes the story funny. The main character of twist in a funny stor
should be unpredictable and funny.
It consists of the following element:
• The beginning of the story. It contains the introduction of characters and the setting of the
story.
• Series of events. It contains what happen to the characters.
• Twist. It contains unpredictable funny ending of the story.
The social purpose of this type of text is entertaining readers using twist (unpredictable funny
ending.

Taks 1
Read the spoof text bellow then underline the verbs in past form.

Fluffy Bunny Rabbit

After a long day at the office, Chris came home one day and found his dog with the
neighbour’s pet rabbit in his mouth. The rabbit was obviously dead. Chris panicked!
“If my neighbours find out my dog killed their bunny, they’ll hate me forever,” he
thought. So he took the dirty, chewed up rabbit into the house, gave it a bath and blow-dried
its fur. Chris knew his neighbours kept their backdoor open during the summer, so he sneaked
inside and put the bunny back into the cage, hoping his neighbours would think it died of
natural causes.
A couple of days later Chris and his neighbour saw each other outside. “Did you hear
that Fluffy die?” the neighbour asked. “Oh. Uhmm... Sorry to hear that. What happened?” Chris
mumbled. The neighbour replied, “We just found him dead in his cage one day. But the strange
thing is that the day after we buried him, we went out to dinner and someone must have dug
him up, gave him a bath and put him back into the cage!”

 Curah pendapat (Brain storming) mengenai “spoof text” dalam konteks yang berterima
dalam kehidupan sehari-hari “All right. Let’s get started.’
 Memberikan contoh text pengalaman lucu: “Let’s see the example of spoof text in the slide”
 Siswa dapat mengidentifikasi kata kerja bentuk past tense yang terdapat dalam teks yang
dibaca dengan tepat. “Read the spoof text bellow then underline the verbs in past form”.
 Siswa dapat menyebutkan berbagai informasi terkait isi teks yang dibaca dengan tepat.
“Answer the questions bellow based on the text”
 Siswa dapat memahami isi text spoof tersebut dengan memilih jawaban dalam pertanyaan

When I’d finished, I tried to open the cubicles door. I pushed, pushed, and pushed again.
Nothing happened. I started to get panicky. I tried to push again. Zero, I cried out my auntie’s
name several times. I heard her coming, but she sounded panicky, too. I said I couldn’t open the
door. Abruptly, in one fling, the door was wide open. I heard people burst into laughter. Not
knowing to what happened; I stepped out of the cubicle. Later I found out that I was supposed
to pull, not push the door. I wanted the ground to swallow me up.

Kick My Ass during Flag Ceremony


It happened when I was still in junior high .that day, august 17, 1995, and I had to be at
school before 7 am but I woke up late.
Everything was I rush that morning. I skipped breakfast so that I wouldn’t be late at
school. I had to perform in the ceremony since I was a member of PASKIBRA. Because I rushed
through everything, I didn’t pay attention to what I wore to school. This proved to be an
embarrassment for me.
During the flag ceremony, almost all students were laughing. Didn’t know that they
were laughing at me until one of my teachers told me that instead of wearing a uniform, I wore
my home short which were in the same color as my uniform. What made it worse; it had a “Kick
My Ass”sign written on its butt. I swear that was the day that I won’t ever forget for the rest of
my life.
