 TABLE MANNER ADALAH

Table manner adalah etika makan yang umum

diterapkan saat acara jamuan resmi atau makan
formal. Meski memiliki istilah "table", etika ini tidak
hanya berhubungan dengan meja makan saja.
TABLE MANNER DALAM PERSPEKTIF ISLAM

Islam sebagai salah satu world-view manusia juga

memiliki table manner sendiri yang dicontohkan
langsung oleh Sang Pembawa risalah,
nabi Muhammad SAW. Table manner ini dinamai
dengan Adab Makan.
 ASPEK ETIKA KETIKA PROSES MAKAN
Tidak seperti ajaran budaya barat yang cenderung hanya memperhatikan aspek etika ketika proses makan
Islam memperhatikan juga aspek sebelum, ketika dan setelah makan. Ukuran kesopanan yang dibuat juga

tidak semata agar enak dipandang dan tidak menjijikan, akan tetapi juga mencakup aspek kesyukuran atas

rezeki dalam bentuk makanan kepada Tuhan. Dalam hal ini manusia menganggap apa yang dilimpahkan

kepadanya berbentuk makanan dan minuman adalah anugerah yang perlu untuk disyukuri.

Perbandingan lain yang bisa direfleksikan adalah fleksibilitas adab makan dibanding table manner itu sendiri.
Meski diajarkan oleh nabi SAW yang merupakan keturunan Arab, poin-poin umum dari adab makan sendiri
dapat digunakan oleh seluruh bangsa, seperti berhenti makan sebelum kenyang, mengutamakan orang lain
dalam makan, menggunakan tangan kanan, dan tidak mencemooh makanan. Nilai-nilai tersebut adalah sebagi
an kecil dari ajaran Islam dalam melihat makanan.
 ETIKA MAKAN MENURUT ISLAM
berdasrkan kitab Riyadus Shalihin karya Iman Nawawi.
Membaca Basmallah dan Doa sebelum
makan
( "Apabila seseorang dari engkau semua makan, maka hendaklah menyebutkan nama Allah Ta'ala –
yakni mengucapkan Bismillah. Jikalau ia terlupa menyebutkan nama Allah Ta'ala pada permulaan
makannya itu, maka hendaklah mengucapkan: "Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu," artinya: Dengan
nama Allah pada permulaan makan dan pada penghabisannya. HR Abu Dawud & Tirmidzi)
Makan dengan tangan
kanan
Tidak ada yang menyebabkan ia berbuat sedemikian itu kecuali karena kesombongannya. Maka ia tidak
dapat mengangkatkan tangan kanannya ke mulut untuk selama-lamanya sejak saat itu. (Riwayat Muslim)

Tidak mengambil makanan secara berlebihan

( Rasulullah SAW Bersabda: "Kita - kaum Muslimin - adalah suatu kaum yang tidak akan makan
sehingga kita merasa lapar dan apabila kita makan tidak sampai kekenyangan. 

Berdo'a setelah makan

Setelah selesai makan - beliau s.a.w. mengucapkan - yang artinya: "Segala puji bagi Allah
sebanyak-banyaknya, makanan yang suci serta diberkahi, tidak diremehkan serta tidak pula
dianggap kurang berguna, ya Tuhan kita." (Riwayat Bukhari)
