Pembelian Ternak Sapi
Untuk mendapatkan ternak-ternak sapi tersebut, dapat diperoleh
secara langsung di petani ternak atau saudagar-saudagar sapi.
Ada banyak pilihan jenis sapi yang bisa dipelihara, baik lokal
maupun dari luar negeri, misalnya sapi bali, sapi madura, sapi
aceh, sapi simmental, sapi limosine, sapi angus, sapi brahman,
sapi charolise, dan sebagainya. Dengan umur sapi yang
sudah 3 tahunan dan memiliki badan yang kurus sehingga
mendapat harga beli yg murah.
Pemberian Pakan Sapi
Secara tradisional, ternak sapi yang hanya makan pakan
hijau biasanya mengalami pertambahan berat badan
sekitar 0,3-0,5 kg/hari. Jadi harus diupayakan agar
melebihi pertumbuhan rata-rata tersebut.
Pemeliharaan secara intensif dengan pakan hijau dan
konsentrat, pertambahan berat badan ternak dapat
mencapai 0,7-1,2 kg/hari. Jerami dan dedak dapat
digunakan sebagai salah satu bentuk pakan untuk usaha
penggemukan sapi.
 Penjualan
Umur sapi yang siap dipotong adalah sapi yang telah
berumur empat tahun. Para pelaku usaha penggemukan
ternak sapi biasanya hanya melakukan pemeliharaan
selama 4 hingga 7 bulan.
