As production angineer and executive, a knowledge of “location of a welding symbols” is

necessary for indicating or interpreting. This will now be discussed in more details in the
following paragraphs. Any of the following standards could be used depending upon the
situation and case of use.

In the AWS system a complete welding symbol consists of the following elements : (Dalam

1. Reference line (always shown horizontally) ( Garis referensi (selalu ditampilkan secara
horizontal)
2. Arrow (Panah)
3. Basic weld symbol (Lambang las dasar)
4. Dimentions and other data (Dimensi dan data lainnya)
5. Supplemental symbols (Simbol tambahan)
6. Finish symbols (Selesaikan symbol)
7. Tail (Ekor)
8. Specification process or other referencesn (Spesifikasi proses atau referensi lainnya)

These elements have specified locations with respect to each other on or around the reference
line as show in fig. 8.1 (Elemen-elemen ini memiliki lokasi tertentu dengan memperhatikan satu
sama lain pada atau di sekitar garis referensi seperti ditunjukkan pada gambar. 8.1)

There are two prevailing systems of placing the symbol with respect to the reference line. In
USA and UK, the symbol is placed below the reference line for welds on the arrow side. ISO has
accommodated both and designate them as A and E (for European system). The designer must be
aware of these two system and take care that his drawing is not misinterpreted.

Ada dua sistem yang berlaku untuk menempatkan simbol sehubungan dengan garis referensi. Di
