ABSTRAK
The herbs garden is an activity in the community which in its implementation uses
land to grow medicinal plants. Family medicinal plants or usually called “toga” can be
cultivated both in the yard, garden, or fields so that they can fill up the family's need for
medicines. Most of the people of Puyung Village have used their yard to grow medicinal
plants such as ginger, turmeric, galangal, basil, guava, and so on. However, the use of these
medicinal plants is still lacking. The community remains dependent on factory-made synthetic
medicine. Therefore an education is needed on the importance of medicinal plants, how to
plant them, their advantages over synthetic medicine, and how they are processed. The
activity held on the end of January until the middle of March 2019. This educational activity
is carried out in several stages, firstly, the introduction of a herbs garden to students, secondly
is planting of medicinal plants and giving a plant nameplate, and thirdly is the socialization of
herbs garden to students, teachers, student’s parents, and the local communities. As many as
23 species of medicinal plants have been planted in herbs garden in the Generasi Muslim
Cendekia Foundation including ginger, turmeric, galangal, kencur, aloe vera, spider plants,
lime, pandanus, spacing, starfruit, cucumber tree, guava, soursop, mint, bayleaf, willow-
leaved justicia, goethe plant, roses, avocados, coleus, and lavender. This activity is carried out
in schools in the hope that the herbs garden will become a learning medium for students and
teachers, which will then be brought and applied in community life.
