Recount Text adalah salah satu jenis text dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan

kembali tentang kejadian-kejadian atau pengalaman-pengalaman di masa lampau. Tujuan dari

Recount Text adalah untuk memberikan informasi atau untuk menghibur pembaca sehingga
tidak terdapat konflik.
1. Macam-macam Recount Text :
a. Personal Recount
Yaitu menceritakan tentang pengalaman pribadi penulis
b. Factual Recount
Yaitu laporan peristiwa yang benar-benar terjadi, seperti laporan percobaan ilmu
pengetahuan, laporan kepolisian.
c. Imaginative
Yaitu membuat cerita imaginative lalu menuliskan peristiwa atau kejadian yang telah
terjadi.
2. Struktur  Recount Text adalah sebagai berikut :
a. Orientation
Yaitu pengenalan berupa memberikan informasi tentang siapa, dimana dan kapan
peristiwa atau kejadian itu terjadi di masa lampau.
b. Events
Yaitu merupakan rekaman peristiwa yang terjadi, biasanya disampaikan dalam urutan
kronologis, seperti : "In the first day... . And in the next day... . And in the last
day... ." Pada bagian ini terdapat juga komentar pribadi tentang peristiwa atau
kejadian yang diceritakan.
c. Reorientation
Yaitu pengulangan pengenalan yang ada di orientation, pengulangan tentang
rangkuman peristiwa atau kejadian yang diceritakan.
3. Ciri Kebahasaan Recount Text
Pada saat membaca Recount Text, akan ditemukan ciri-ciri kebahasaan sebagai berikut :
a. Menggunakan kalimat dalam bentuk  Past Tense.
Contoh : We went to Bandung last year, I was very happy.
b. Menggunakan Action Verbs.
Contoh : went, bought, wrote, slept, dll.
c. Menggunakan Adverbs and Adverbial Phrase untuk mengungkapkan waktu, tempat
dan cara.
Contoh : yesterday, at school, quickly, dll.
 d. Menggunakan Conjunction dan Time Connectives untuk mengurutkan peristiwa atau
kejadian.
Contoh : but, and, after that, dll.
4. Contoh Recount Text
Orientasi
Saya menghabiskan liburan di Jogjakarta tahun lalu. Saya pergi ke Candi Prambanan
bersama keluarga saya pagi-pagi sekali.

Acara
Kami pergi ke Candi Prambanan dengan bus dan tiba pukul 01.00 sore. Saya melihat
banyak turis asing disana. Saya berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan mereka. Nama mereka
adalah Andrew dan Peter. Mereka sangat ramah. Mereka datang dari New York. Candi
Prambanan ramai di liburan. Kami kembali pukul 07.00 di malam hari.

Reorientasi
Itu adalah liburan yang sangat menarik.

Singapura

Saya ingin bercerita tentang waktu berkesan saya di Singapura. Itu adalah salah satu
liburan terbaik yang pernah saya miliki.

Saya tidak akan pernah melupakan pemandangan kota yang spektakuler. Aku melihat dari
Gunung Fabel malam itu. Naik roller coaster, stunts yang dilakukan oleh lumba-lumba
dan paus pembunuh di Sea World juga menarik. Saya akan mengingat sensasi naik
wahana terpanjang di monorel di Pulau Sentosa selama bertahun-tahun yang akan datang.

Saya juga menikmati berbagai jenis makanan laut di warung pinggir jalan sementara di
pasar malam Chinatown. Saya juga menikmati perjalanan belanja. Keluarga dan teman-
teman saya sepakat bahwa suvenir itu bernilai uang, terutama syal sutra dengan cetakan
cantik dan gantungan kunci yang menarik.
Recount Text is one type of text in English that retells the events or experiences of the past.
The purpose of Recount Text is to provide information or to entertain the reader so that there
is no conflict.
1. Miscellaneous Recount Text:
a. Personal Recount
That is telling about the author's personal experience
b. Factual Recount
That is an actual event report, such as a science experiment report, a police report.
c. Imaginative
That is making imaginative stories and write down events or events that have
occurred.

2. Recount Text structure is as follows:

A. Orientation
Namely the introduction of providing information about who, where and when events
or events that occurred in the past.
B. Events
That is a recording of events that occur, usually delivered in chronological order, such
as: "In the first day ... And in the next day .... And in the last day ...." In this section
there are also personal comments about events or events that are told
C. Reorientation
Namely the repetition of the introduction of the orientation, repetition of the summary
of events or events that are told.

3. Linguistic Features of Recount Text

When reading Recount Text, we will find the following linguistic features:
A. Using a sentence in Past Tense.
Example: We went to Bandung last year, I was very happy.
B. Using Action Verbs.
Example: went, bought, wrote, slept, etc.
C. Use Adverbs and Adverbial Phrase to reveal time, place and way.
 Example: yesterday, at school, quickly, etc.
D. Using Conjunction and Time Connectives to sort events or events.
    Example: but, and, after that, etc.
Orientation
I spent my holiday in Jogjakarta last year. I went to Prambanan Temple with my family early
in the morning.

Events
We went to Prambanan Temple by bus and arrived at 01.00 in the afternoon. I saw many
foreign tourists there. I spoke English with them. Their name are Andrew and Peter. They
were very friendly. They came from New York. Prambanan Temple was crowded in holiday.
We went back at 07.00 in the evening.

Reorientation
It was a very interesting holiday.

Singapore

I want to tell you about my memorable time in Singapore. It was one of the best
holidays I ever had.
I shall never forget the spectacular sight of the city. I saw from Mount Fable that
night. The roller-coaster ride, the stunts performed by the dolphins and the killer whale at the
Sea World were also exciting. I shall remember the thrill of having been on one of the longest
rides in the monorail in Sentosa Island for many years to come.
I also enjoyed various varieties of seafood at the makeshift roadside stalls at the
Chinatown night market. I also enjoyed the shopping trips. My family and friends agreed that
the souvenirs were value for money, especially the silk scarves with pretty prints and the
attractive key chains.
