ARTICLES

( a , an , the )
Article adalah sebuah kata yang diletakkan di depan kata benda (nouns) untuk memberi
informasi tambahan terhadap kata benda tersebut apakah bersifat spesifik atau umum.
Di dalam penggunaan contoh kalimat article dalam bahasa inggris, ternyata masih banyak orang
yang keliru. Padahal, jika salah menempatkan articles (a, an, dan the) dapat berpotensi
mengubah makna keseluruhan dari sebuah kalimat.
Oleh karena itu , untuk menghindari kesalahan penggunaan kita perlu memahami
perbedaannya terlebih dahulu. Biar makin paham, kita bakal ngebahas juga contoh kalimat

Article sendiri terbagi menjadi dua jenis yaitu indefinite dan definite, contoh article ‘a, an, the’
di pembahasan berikut ini!
A. Indefinite Articles
Yang termasuk indefinite articles adalah ‘a’ dan ‘an’ yang hanya digunakan untuk kata benda
umum (general nouns) dan kata benda tunggal (singular nouns).

Nah, terus kapan ‘a’ dan ‘an’ digunakan? Well, di dalam penggunaannya ‘a’ dan ‘an’ ini memiliki
perbedaan .

Articles ‘a’, digunakan sebelum kata benda yang memiliki bunyi huruf awalan konsonan. Contoh
kalimat articles ‘a’ antara lain:
Do you have a pencil?
I have a dog.
Articles an digunakan untuk sebelum kata benda yang memiliki bunyi huruf awalan vokal (a, i, u,
e, o). Contoh kalimat menggunakan article ‘an’ antara lain :

 I ate an egg yesterday.

 I am going to bring an apple pie.

B. Definite Articles
Yang termasuk definite articles adalah ‘the’ yang digunakan untuk kata benda spesifik
(specific nouns) dan dapat digunakan pada kata benda tunggal (singular nouns) maupun
jamak (plural nouns). Contoh kalimat articles ‘the’ antara lain:
Parasite was the first Korean movie to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.
I bought a shirt. The shirt is blue.
Kalau a, an dan the itu dipakai untuk contoh kalimat article dengan proper noun yang
countable atau bisa dihitung. The juga bisa dipakai untuk noun yang uncountable juga
ya.
