Passive voice 

adalah jenis kalimat bahasa Inggris yang menekankan pada objek (receiver of

action). Sedangkan kalimat aktif menekankan pada subjek atau pelaku kegiatan (doer of
action).

Selain menitikberatkan objek, passive voice juga berguna sebagai pernyataan ketika subjek

atau pelaku tidak diketahui dengan jelas ataupun menandakan bahwa subjeknya merupakan
benda mati.

Karena fokusnya subjek dan objek dalam kalimat, penggunaan pronoun serta kata kerja

Rumus dan Contoh Passive Voice

Setiap tenses Bahasa Inggris memiliki rumus passive voice yang berbeda. Untuk
menguasainya, ayo cek penjelasan rumus dan contoh passive voice di bawah ini.

1. Simple Present Tense

Rumus yang bisa kamu gunakan untuk membuat pola kalimat passive voice simple present
tense adalah sebagai berikut:

Rumus:
S + is/am/are + V3/past participle

Contoh:

o Liana is allowed to wash the car by her father.

(Liana diizinkan untuk mencuci mobil oleh ayahnya).
o I am qualified enough to participate in this event.
(Aku cukup memenuhi syarat untuk ambil bagian dalam acara ini).

2. Simple Past Tense

Selanjutnya adalah rumus dan contoh passive voice simple past tense, perbedaan signifikan
dari rumus di atas adalah penggunaan to be nya. Cermati rumus dan contoh passive
voice berikut:

Rumus:
S + was/were + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:
o She was phoned by her friend to bought some fruit.
(Dia ditelfon oleh temanya untuk membeli beberapa buah).
o This cake was made by my mother last night.
(Kue ini dibuat oleh ibuku tadi malam).

3. Simple Future Tense

Rumus yang bisa digunakan dalam membentuk kalimat passive voice simple future

tense adalah sebagai berikut:

Rumus:
S + will be + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:

o We will be taught by Mr. Gillman.

(Kami akan diajar oleh Pak Gilman).
o This article will be written by Bunga Medina.
(Artikel ini akan ditulis oleh Bunga Medina).

4. Simple Past Future Tense

Bentuk terakhir dari passive voice simple tense ini adalah simple past future tense. Berikut
rumus dan contoh passive voice dalam simple past future tense.

Rumus:
S + would be/should be + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:

o You should be gone.

(Kamu seharusnya pergi).
o He would be accompanied by his friends to the museum.
(Dia akan ditemani oleh teman temannya ke museum).

5. Present Continuous Tense

Bentuk dari passive voice continuous tense yang pertama adalah present continuous

tense Untuk membuat passive voice dari tense tersebut, kamu harus pahami rumus dan contoh
di bawah ini:
 Rumus:
S + is/am/are being + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:

o They are being punished by their teacher.

(Mereka sedang dihukum oleh guru mereka).
o He is being haunted by bad dreams.
(Dia sedang dihantui oleh mimpi buruk).

6. Past Continuous Tense

Untuk membuat kalimat passive voice past continuous tense, kamu perlu pahami pola atau
rumusan berikut ini:

Rumus:
S + was/were being + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:

o Patrick said they were being stalked.

(Patrick berkata bahwa mereka pernah dimata matai).
o Rangga was being left by Cinta.
(Rangga pernah ditinggalkan oleh Cinta).

7. Future Continuous Tense

Satu lagi yang perlu kamu pelajari rumus dan contoh passive voice dalam continuous
tense adalah future continuous tense! 

Rumus:
S + is/am/are going to be + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:

o This car is going to be bought by Alex.

(Mobil ini akan dibeli oleh Alex).
o Those Pizzas are going to be delivered soon.
(Pizza itu akan diantarkan segera).

8. Present Perfect Tense

 Langsung saja mulai pada bentuk passive voice pertama, yaitu present perfect tense.

S + has/have been + V3/Past Particle

Contoh:

o This restaurant has been opened.

(Restoran ini sudah dibuka).
o These shirts have been washed.
