Conditional sentence adalah kalimat pengandaian. Kita sudah pernah membahas tipe yang pertama.

Namun kali ini kita akan mengulang kembali materi ini. Semoga kalian tetap semangat mengikuti dan
mengerti walaupun kita tidak melakukan proses belajar di kelas. Silahkan dibuka kembali buku catatan
dan lengkapi catatan anda dengan materi berikut:

Conditional sentence adalah complex sentence (kalimat majemuk) yang dibentuk dari subordinate

clause yang diawali dengan subordinate conjunction if berupa condition (syarat) dan main
clause berupa result/consequence (hasil).

Untuk kali ini yang akan kita pelajari kembali adalah conditional tipe 1 dan 2.

1. Conditional Sentence Type 1

Conditional sentence type 1 atau first conditional digunakan ketika result/consequence (hasil)
dari condition (syarat) memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud di masa depan karena condition-nya
realistik untuk dipenuhi.

Rumus dan Contoh Kalimat Conditional Sentence Type 1:

if + simple present, simple future “will” / imperative

If I meet him, I will introduce myself.

(Jika saya bertemu dia, saya akan memperkenalkan diri.)

Perhatikan contoh berikut ini:

If + simple present simple future

subject + will/can/may +verb 1

If you don't hurry you will miss the train.

If it rains today you will get wet.

2. Conditional Sentence Type 2

Conditional sentence type 2 atau second conditional digunakan ketika result/consequence (hasil)

dari condition (syarat) tidak memiliki atau hanya sedikit kemungkinan untuk terwujud karena condition-
nya tidak mungkin dipenuhi di masa sekarang atau condition-nya sulit untuk dipenuhi di masa depan.

Rumus dan Contoh Kalimat Conditional Sentence Type 2:

if + simple past, would/could/might + bare infinitive

If it rained tomorrow, I would sleep all day.

(Jika besok hujan, saya akan tidur sepanjang hari.)

If clause Main clause

If + simple past Would + infinitive

If + Subject+Verb 2 Subject + would/could/might+ Verb 1

If you went to bed earlier you would not be so tired.

If it rained you would get wet.

 Pengertian Conditional Sentence Type 3
Pada dasarnya yang dimaksud dengan conditional sentence type 3 adalah kalimat
pengandaian yang mustahil untuk terjadi. Kenapa mustahil? Conditional sentence itu
adalah kalimat bersyarat, ada result/consequence (hasil) dan ada pula conditional
(syarat), jadi sebuah pengandaian disebut conditional sentence type 3 jika
result/consequence nya tidak mungkin terjadi karena conditional nya wajib telah
terpenuhi dimasa lampau.

Contoh kalimat seperti ini “Jika saya kemarin hati-hati, saya tidak akan jatuh”. Bagian
“jika saya kemarin hati-hati” ini adalah syarat, sedangkan bagian “saya tidak akan jatuh”
adalah hasilnya. Pada contoh diatas, seseorang mengandaikan tidak akan jatuh, namun
pengandaian tersebut jelas-jelas tidak mungkin terjadi, karena faktanya kemarin
memang tidak hati-hati. Karena pengandaian pada type 3 ini tidak mungkin terjadi,
maka pengandaian tersebut sama halnya seperti sebuah penyesalan seseorang.

Oke anak2, sekarang kita masuk pada rumus CS type 3

Rumus Conditional Sentence Type 3
Untuk menyusun sebuah conditional sentence type 3, anda dapat
menggunakan susunan kata berikut ini:
If + Past Perfect Tense, + S + Would/should/could/might + Have
+ Verb3 (Past participle)

Atau bisa dibalik seperti ini:

S + Would/should/could/might + Have + Verb3 (Past participle)
+ If + Past Perfect Tense
Kalau rumus diatas kurang jelas, bisa diperinci lagi, maka akan
menjadi seperti berikut ini:
If + S + Had + Verb3, + S + Would/should/could/might + Have +
Verb3

Atau bisa dibalik seperti ini:

S + Would/should/could/might + Have + Verb3 + If + S + Had +

Verb3

* S adalah subjek, bisa I, she, he, they, we, dan lain-lain.

* Jika letak if ditengah maka tidak perlu menggunakan koma, tapi
jika letak if diawal maka harus menggunakan koma.
Contoh kalimat:
 If I had studied, I would have passed the exams.
 If you hadn't lied to me before, I would have believed you.
