    PASSIVE VOICE (KALIMAT PASIF)

    Passive voice adalah kalimat Yang sabjek nya tidak melakukan tindakan, melainkan menerima aksi dari tindakan.
    Biasanya kata kerjanya berawalan “di-, ter-“. Sebaliknya, pada active voice (kalimat aktif) sabjek yang bertindak
    sebagai pelaku tindakan. Biasanya kata kerjanya berawalan “me-.”

    Example: Sam cooks the food.

    The food is cooked by Sam.

    Penggunaan TENSES dalam PASSIVE VOICE

    1 Present Simple Lana writes the letter. The letter is written by Lana.
    2 Present Continuous Lana is writing the letter. The letter is being written by
    Lana.
    3 Present Perfect Lana has written the letter. The letter has been written by
    Lana.
    4 Past Simple Lana wrote the letter. The letter was written by
    Lana.
    5 Past Continuous Lana was writing the letter. The letter was being written
    by Lana.
    6 Past Perfect Lana had written the letter. The letter had been written by
    Lana.
    7 Future Simple Lana will write the letter. The letter will be written by
    Lana.
    8 Future be + going to Lana is going to write the The letter is going to be
    letter. written by Lana.
    9 Future Perfect Lana will have written the The letter will have been
    letter. written by Lana.
    10 Modals (can, may, must, Lana can write the letter. The letter can be written by
    shall, ought to, should, etc. Lana.

    Notes:

    Instruction/steps to change Active Voice into Passive Voice.

    1. Identify the Subject, Verb, and Object of the sentence. If there is no the Object of the sentence, it can’t be
    changed to Passive.
    2. Identify the tenses.
    3. Subject in Active voice became Object in Passive. Object in Active voice became Subject in Passive.
    4. The verb and to be should agree with the Subject.
    5. The use of “to be”

    Other examples:

    1. The manager has signed these contracts.


    2. Somebody calls the president everyday.
    3. The river flows into the sea.
    4. The company ordered some new equipment.

    8. Uncle Ben drives the bus.
    9. Jane must play the violin.
    10. The secretary read the invitation.
