 ‘’ Apa itu Multimeter / AVOmeter ? ‘’
‘’ AVOmeter adalah singkatan dari Ampere Volt Ohm Meter, jadi hanya terda
pat 3 komponen yang bisa diukur dengan AVOmeter sedangkan Multimeter ,
dikatakan multi sebab memiliki banyak besaran yang bisa di ukur, misalnya A
mpere, Volt, Ohm, Frekuensi, Konektivitas Rangkaian (putus ato tidak), Nilai
Kapasitif, dan lain sebagainya. ‘’
Bagian – Bagian Multimeter
 Cara Mengukur Tegangan DC
1. Atur Posisi Saklar Selektor ke DCV
2. Pilihlah skala sesuai dengan perkiraan tegangan
yang akan diukur. Jika ingin mengukur 6 Volt,
putar saklar selector ke 12 Volt (khusus Analog
Multimeter)
3. **Jika tidak mengetahui tingginya tegangan yang
diukur, maka disarankan untuk memilih skala
tegangan yang lebih tinggi untuk menghindari
terjadi kerusakan pada multimeter.
4. Hubungkan probe ke terminal tegangan yang akan

diukur. Probe Merah pada terminal Positif (+) dan
Probe Hitam ke terminal Negatif (-). Hati-hati agar
jangan sampai terbalik.
5. Baca hasil pengukuran di Display Multimeter.
Cara Mengukur Tegangan AC (AC
Voltage)
1. Atur Posisi Saklar Selektor ke ACV
2. Pilih skala sesuai dengan perkiraan tegangan yang
akan diukur. Jika ingin mengukur 220 Volt, putar
saklar selector ke 300 Volt (khusus Analog
Multimeter)
3. **Jika tidak mengetahui tingginya tegangan yang
diukur, maka disarankan untuk memilih skala
tegangan yang tertinggi untuk menghindari terjadi
kerusakan pada multimeter.
4. Hubungkan probe ke terminal tegangan yang akan
diukur. Untuk Tegangan AC, tidak ada polaritas
Negatif (-) dan Positif (+)
5. Baca hasil pengukuran di Display Multimeter.
 Cara Mengukur Arus Listrik (Ampere)
1. Atur Posisi Saklar Selektor ke DCA
2. Pilih skala sesuai dengan perkiraan
arus yang akan diukur. Jika Arus
yang akan diukur adalah 100mA
maka putarlah saklar selector ke
300mA (0.3A). Jika Arus yang
diukur melebihi skala yang dipilih,
maka sekering (fuse) dalam
Multimeter akan putus. Kita harus 3. Putuskan Jalur catu daya (power
menggantinya sebelum kita dapat supply) yang terhubung ke beban,
memakainya lagi. 4. Kemudian hubungkan probe
Multimeter ke terminal Jalur yang
kita putuskan tersebut. Probe Merah
ke Output Tegangan Positif (+) dan
Probe Hitam ke Input Tegangan (+)
Beban ataupun Rangkaian yang
akan kita ukur. Untuk lebih jelas,
silakan lihat gambar berikut ini.

 Cara Mengukur Resistor (Ohm)

1. Atur Posisi Saklar

Selektor ke Ohm (Ω)

2. Pilih skala sesuai dengan

perkiraan Ohm yang
akan diukur. Biasanya
diawali ke tanda “X” 3. Hubungkan probe ke
yang artinya adalah komponen Resistor,
“Kali”. (khusus tidak ada polaritas, jadi
Multimeter Analog) boleh terbalik.

4. Baca hasil pengukuran

di Display Multimeter.

pengalian dengan
setting di langkah ke-2)
1) Cara Menguji Kondensator (Capasitor)
Caranya adalah dengan langkah-langkah berikut di bawah ini:

1) Mula-mula saklar multimeter diputar ke atas. Tanda panah ke atas te

patnya R x Ohm
2) Kalibrasi sampai jarum multimeter menunjukkan angka nol tepat saat
dua colok (+) dan colok (-) dihubungkan. Putar adjusment untuk menyesu
aikan.
3) Hubungkan colok (-) dengan kaki berkutub negatif kondensator, sedan
gkan colok (+) dengan kaki positif kondensator. Lihat jarum. Apabila ber
gerrak dan tidak kembali berarti komponen tersebut masih baik. Jika be
rgerak dan kembali tetapi tidak seperti posisi semula berarti komponen
rusak. Dan apabila jarum tidak bergerak sama sekali dipastikan putus.
3 ) Cara Menguji Transformator (Trafo)

Transformator saat kita beli harus dan wajib untuk kita check apakah masih baik dan berfu
ngsi. Karena untuk trafo biasanya tidak diberi garansi apabila rusak setelah dibeli. Hal ini di
mungkinkan adanya pemutusan hubungan di gulungan/lilitan sekunder atau primer.
Langkah-langkah:
1. Putar multimeter saklar pada posisi Ohm 1x.
2. Kalibrasi.
3. Hubungkan colok (-) dengan salah satu kaki di gulungan primer, colok (+) pada kaki ya
ng lain di gulungan primer. Bila jarum bergerak maka trafo dalam keadaan baik.
4. Pada gulungan sekunder lakukan hal yang sama. Apabila jarum multimeter bergerak-ge
rak maka trafo dalam keadaan baik. Selisih nilai sama dengan selisih tegangan yang terter
a pada trafo.
5. Letakkan colok (-) atau colok (+) ke salah satu kaki di gulungan primer kemudian colok y
ang lain ke gulungan sekunder. Apabila jarum tidak bergerak maka trafo dalam keadaan b
aik, menandakan tidak adanya korsleting gulungan primer dengan sekunder dengan body t
rafo. Lakukan hal sebaliknya.
6 Langkah terakhir, letakkan colok (-) atau colok (+) ke salah satu kaki di gulungan primer
atau sekunder kemudian colok yang lain ke plat pengikat gulungan yang berada di tengah.
Apabila jarum tidak bergerak maka trafo dalam keadaan baik, menandakan tidak adanya k
orsleting gulungan dengan body trafo.
 PENGETESAN TRANSISTOR

Cara Menguji dan Memeriksa Komponen Elektronika “Transistor PNP

”
• Putar posisi multimeter ke skala Ohm meter sebaiknya x10
• Hubungkan probe merah multimeter pada kaki basis sementara probe
hitam pada kaki emitor dan collector secara bergantian. Pastikan jarum
bergerak, bila tidak bergerak berarti rusak.
• Lakukan pengujian pada kaki yang lain secara bergantian, misalnya pr
obe merah pada emitor lalu probe hitam pada basis lalu collector, dst.
Pastikan jarum tidak bergerak, bila bergerak berarti transistor rusak.

Cara Menguji dan Memeriksa Komponen Elektronika “Transistor NPN

”
 Putar posisi multimeter ke skala Ohm meter sebaiknya x10
• Hubungkan probe hitam multimeter pada kaki basis sementara probe
merah pada kaki emitor dan collector secara bergantian. Pastikan jaru
m bergerak. Bila tidak bergerak berarti rusak.
• Lakukan pengujian pada kaki yang lain secara bergantian, misalnya pr
obe hitam pada emitor lalu probe merah pada basis lalu collector, dst.
Pastikan jarum tidak bergerak, bila bergerak berarti transistor sudah ru
sak.
4) Cara Menguji Dioda

Untuk itu diperlukan sebuah multitester atau sebuah ohmmeter analog/digital. Multi
tester atau Avometer Analog mempunyai fasilitas pengukur hambatan (ohmmeter)
, dimana jenis ohmmeter yang digunakan biasanya ohmmeter-seri, dimana secara
konstruksi polaritas batere yang terpasang dalam meter berlawanan polaritas deng
an terminal ukurnya.
Atau dengan perkataan lain, terminal positip meter adalah mempunyai polaritas ne
gatip batere, sebaliknya terminal negatip meter mempunyai polaritas positip batere.
Dengan demikian guna menguji sebuah dioda dengan menggunakan Avometer pri
nsipnya adalah sebagai berikut :
1. Anda posisikan Avometer pada posisi ohm dengan skala rendah
2. Tentukan terlebih dahulu elektroda anoda dan katoda dari dioda tersebut
3. Hubungkan terminal + (positip) meter dengan Anoda dari dioda yang akan dite
st sedangkan terminal – (negatip) meter dengan Katoda dioda. (hubungan ini a
dalah reverse).
4. Dalam posisi semacam ini, jika dioda masih baik, maka jarum meter tidak akan
bergerak. Namun jika dalam posisi ini jarum bergerak, maka dapat dikatakan di
oda terhubung singkat (rusak).
5. Ulangi langkah 2 diatas dengan polaritas sebaliknya, dimana Anoda dihubungk
an dengan negatip meter dan Katoda dengan positip meter. (hubungan ini adal
ah forward),
6. Dalam posisi semacam ini, jika dioda masih baik, maka jarum meter akan berg
erak. Namun jika dalam posisi ini jarum meter tidak bergerak, maka dapat dikat
akan dioda putus (rusak).
